***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

The only thing I'm 100% sure of is what my local stores have consistently told me. There is one more store that's in a different time zone it's on my time. They open in 10 minutes the rep at this store said to call her at 9 when they open and she would tell me what the meeting was about.

Not to be a jerk, but the meeting could have "stressed" confidentiality in the latest developments, so they may not be giving you the 100% truth. I thought you were an employee.

FYI, accessories dropped to 16 for some reason: Set Your Location

OT Starbucks
Gingerbread Lattes are so delicious. I love their holiday drinks, even though a lot of their stuff is priced a bit high.

OT Comp Stuff
Just bought a new case fan for my PC.

Speaking of home servers, I have a Zotac net-top running OpenElec (an XBMC custom install) and this streams 1080p straight to my TV (movies and TV shows) with an amazing interface, all controlled from my phone. Hoping to pick up a tablet for XBMC control. I highly recommend this to anyone trying to setup a media server on the cheap.

I love this place! First, congrats Mr. 58 for the big prize! I came in and started lurking about 3 weeks ago and am just now feeling the need to post. I followed the same path during the DInc release process, and within a few hours of my first post, we saw pre-order sites go live...sooo in hopes of a stated jinx (un-jinx?) to change our luck, here's to an official announcement in the coming hours! Thanks to all posters/mods for making my stalking experience a real treat (I feel dirty just for thinking that statement).

I was in the Google+ Hangout with Matias yesterday. He had a PR person off camera reigning him in so he couldn't say much regarding the Verizon/Galaxy Nexus catastrophe. He said they weren't happy with the situation at all and hopes that it will be released soon.

Not happy is probably an understatement. I imagine they are livid. Probably doesn't bold well for future Nexus iterations on Verizon.

I sort of have to disagree with this. In our case, the 'magician' never told us anything. The 'magician' never lied to us. This analogy is wrong in that sense, methinks.

You also go see a magician knowing its a lie...we shouldn't have to expect corporations who we pay to deceive us to protect our own feelings. But that. Unfortunately is the case.

Regardless, I am going to my Verizon Store tomorrow at 8:30am and will be waiting. Is anyone in the Arlington/Alexandria VA area want to join me? If so PM me. If the there is no Gnex release, I might need someone to lend a shoulder....I have truly enjoyed these threads, and I'll take two tickets to that movie!

Let me know how it goes! Pentagon City and the other local stores here didn't know or want to discuss anything before. Best bet for a non-mobbed place would be the BJs by Landmark. :)

Seriously he said this? Crap. Why do I have a bad feeling Verizon's selection of phones is about to go south.

Called my local corporate store near Philadelphia. Said I heard a rumor that the Galaxy Nexus was being released tomorrow and if so, can I set up an appointment to pick it up. The salesperson said that there was no specific launch date yet, but added it was NOT being released tomorrow. I was hoping for a nervous giggle or an audible wink, but no such luck.

Same here north of Philly...

Same situation as you. Got my X at launch, and my upgrade date said "New Every Two: 3/2012".

The good news is, I spoke with a CSR over chat on the Verizon website and it's just the New Every Two bonus money that you can't get until March. You are elligible for an upgrade right now.

I'll second that...
My account shows the same "New Every Two" date and I also got my X at launch so I shouldn't be entitled to any upgrade discounts until summer 2012.
As I understand it though, you're "eligible" for an upgrade any time, be it 6 months after a new phone or 6 minutes - you just have to pay the "with 2 year contract" price and get no additional discounts.
(of course I could be wrong) :D

Well, Verizon says they restored their 4G... so if that was the reason for delay, they have nothing now.

Is there still hope?

Yeah, the question was "Is google at least happy that the Nexus is getting tons of attention because of the delayed release?"
He said "No, we aren't happy at all. We want it released so everyone can try it."

Someone asked him "What's on your Christmas list?"
He said "A Galaxy Nexus"
I said "Will it even be out by christmas?"
He laughed and said "I sure hope so"

Please don't think I'm trying to be a killjoy. I just hate false hopes, if there is a chance I would latch onto it. I just have to assume that if the phone was being released in 24 hours there would be no reason to deny that at this point.

I'm with you and have always thought this way. Until Verizon says so, this phone is not coming out. I give it a 0% chance it comes out tomorrow, and about a 2% chance it comes out next week. I'm still holding firm to my "after xmas" prediction, and that's only because Verizon has said "later this year". If not for that, I could see them having no problem pushing it into next year. And I could actually see them pushing into next year anyway, regardless of what they've already said. Now, if you can convince Best Buy or Costco or whoever to sell you the phone tomorrow, that's different, but good luck activating it.

Well...maybe between now and my next upgrade cycle the Google/Verizon relationship will thaw. I can't imagine after this fiasco Google is going to be eager to jump back in bed with Verizon, and rightfully so. At least my decision whether to leave Verizon or not was delayed for a year or two by the Nexus (supposedly, but I'm not even convinced it exists yet) being on Verizon.

Back in college when I was in the dorms , I used to use my iron to cook with. Eggs were a bit of a challenge but doable if I made the foil basket right.

Winding the time machine way back, my dorm room heater was so hot, I could fry eggs on it. In the dead of winter (in upstate NY), we had the window open it was so hot. This was with the heater control turned OFF.

You are wrong. You can buy an unsubsadized phone at any time for full retail and it has no effect on your contract. You cannot get the on contract price at any you wish but can get it early sometimes with approval. Standard for upgrade eligible is 20 months into contract I believe.
