***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Right, but I'm guessing Google really wants to make a push with Wallet now and Verizon will not let them. I'm just absolutely furious that a device is being delayed for no other reason than freaking corporate politics. Verizon has gone from nearly releasing the phone to denying it's existence nearly entirely. Does that not frighten anyone?

Until the nexus page is taken down from their site I will be a little more at ease. I mean I still do not think it is due to that and most likely there was some minor bug or something or even hell they wanted to make sure people would stop complaining and added google wallet with the update. I cannot honestly see verizon delaying it for that reason since it could easily be added later on.

Obligatory was a lurker, have decided to say hi post.
What's up? This thread has consumed many many hours of my life since its creation, it's only right that I would post. I've been talking about this phone so much, that even my fiancee has admitted to checking here for updates.
It has been a roller coaster, hopefully we will all have our phones soon.

C'mon In!

I keep reading here and there about the low volume or weak external speaker.

This was the deal breaker for me with the Dinc2 I tried.

I do not have hearing issues but am spoiled by the OG Droid's very good speaker volume.

Do you guys think it's hardware limited or can it be tweaked with software?

Gosh with a little road noise or the phone in my pocket I want to know I have a chance to hear it ring or the navigation speaking street names and turns.

Will you guys getting your paws on the phones try out some ring tones with it turned all the way up? I know this will be the 1st thing I hit.

I played YouTube with the demo unit. Sounded fine... normal cell phone external. It wasn't a boombox... but was loud enough in a noisy store.

I ask in another thread cant you just download a volume booster and POOF problem solved? i know that yes it sucks, the phone should already come plenty loud but volume boosters will work right?

Well my sister just had a baby boy! Gratz to her, but I feel bad... She works for Verizon and I had to ask lmao... She rolled her eyes thru the phone and begrudingly said her store was told 16th. Also added no one really knows why... She works in Seattle, WA in case anyone cares....

Congrats Uncle/Aunt? Dizzil
That's awesome!

I have a problem with those pics....

that bud light is way too close to that phone for comfort.

That and why Bud? And light no less???? :p

So let's say that's the last box in the store, the one that people have been fondling.

Do you walk away?

Nope. I wipe it off with hand sanitizer. :D

I just have a hard time seeing how canceling it makes than more profit than selling it. Even if they had to allow GW on the phone, so what? They could incentivize people to use ISIS instead.

But I have no idea how their contracts work. Maybe all that they are out is the cost of shipping and Samsung has to eat the cost of all of the devices. Who knows?

I have no clue about the details of the contract, but let's consider the two scenarios:

1. Verizon caves and includes google wallet. They lose some revenue from ISIS, but still make money selling the phones and getting people locked into new 2 year contracts.

2. Verizon throws up their hands, refuses to sell the phone and all that stock goes to resellers (where hopefully they would sell for less than the full retail, I don't see them selling ALL those phones at full retail). Verizon loses revenue on the phones, they lose 2-year contract renewals, and they STILL lose any possible ISIS revenue.

I'm no business major, but if they think #2 is a better choice, they are . This is akin to a young child stubbornly refusing to go to bed even after they've already lost tv privileges and other consequences which started their tantrum and refusal to go to bed in the first place.

Seriously, Verizon, if you're reading any of this, stop puffing out your chest and screwing over your customers and sell the damn phone.

No sir. I spent a lot of time in detention...in a Catholic school.

I was actually expelled from my first Catholic school in 3rd grade. All that really meant was that the nuns gave up and handed me off to the Jesuits, who had corporal punishment down to a fine art. Word got around in the new school and I had it easy :D

At this point I think that if the phone does come out, it'll be the 22nd at earliest. I'm expecting after xmas/January though

And I think there's atleast a 15% chance the phone isn't released at all

You are needed here with your pessimism. At latest verizon has until the end of the year to release the phone since that is what they announced. Honestly the longer it goes I will just wait and see. Verizon sucks with releasing phones and updates in a timely manner. I wish they would have just grabbed the sgs2 and been done with it. yeah updates wouldn't be from google but the dev community is great for that and samsung is very open towards the devs. i just want a dual core lte samsung and I will be happy.

I hate Verizon so much for this.

First their bloatware...
Then this wallet garbage!

Bloatware is debatable. Personally I don't consider it an problem (I just don't use what I don't need) but I'm well aware of how it is viewed here on the forums.

Regarding the "Google Wallet" topic, I'm choosing to stay neutral until I hear confirmed details from both parties (Google and Verizon).

I'm sorry, I just know what Verizon is capable of. This phone is my holy grail. I've wanted a Nexus phone for a very long time, and I cannot have any other carrier besides Verizon. If they screw this up, I may lose it. And even when this phone does get released, they may simply refuse to support it/release updates.
