***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

So if we don't get an announcement by ~3 PM CST then we can assume Thursday is not the day, correct??

Just trying to figure out when I can expect this anxiety to subside, one way or another. haha

With my rep getting his PERSONAL Nexus today from Verizon, I think it would take a catastrophic failure for it not to release this week whether or not they announce it.

Hi everyone!

I am Ben's better half. I just wanted to say that I both love your group and hate it at the same time. I hope you can understand that!

I'm glad that he found a group of people as crazy as he is, because lord knows I can't handle it. All he does is live on this site, and I need him to be a real, live human husband again.

So I beg you guys to please kick him out of here (read: ban) as soon as this phone is on sale okay? Thursday, right?

I swear I could be seeing a ship captain on the sly and he wouldn't notice!

Okay guys and dolls, I've said my piece. His sister and myself very much can't wait til the Nexus comes out, and we are iPhone girls.

Bye! :)

Don't worry, once he gets the phone he will forget how to login after a while. Then you will have to get him to look up from the device.

Hmm, with all the Nexaholics on here will Verizon be able to live up to their advertising promise. "Sign up to receive more information and be one of the first to get the Galaxy Nexus by Samsung on Verizon."

If I can't be first, can I be second? Please, please!!!

My spousal unit is getting very, very tired of hearing me talk about ICS. At least she is patient. :D

I'm want ICE CREAM now, pretty please.

Battery Update

First off - thanks cggorman for helping me out, I owe you a beer.

Ok - so I had a long-winded post earlier about the battery. I've just scanned cggorman's kernel pretty thoroughly and it looks like it's having similar issues as some of the GSM guys.

At a REALLY high level, the OS isnt entering a 'sleep' mode properly. You should not have AndroidOS taking up that much of your battery. I havn't discovered what driver it is yet (perhaps a sound driver), but it's constantly polling the CPU - thus eating through battery.

I'm willing to eat my iPhone (ok not really) that this is a reason for the delay. A new kernel version will most likely be pushed out fairly soon that addresses this issue. Most GSM people are reporting that after they flashed a new kernel, the driver stopped acting up.

I'll try and keep you updated if anyone is curious.

PS - Any questions, please PM - No way I can keep track of any replies the way this thread moves.

Why would they silent launch? They purchased exclusivity from Samsung and Google on this phone, and they clearly had plans to advertise (see: online add $199 for black friday, ads outside stores, etc).

It makes no sense to silent launch a product that would / could draw new customers.

This phone isn't truly exclusive though, and they probably wouldn't see that high of sales compared to not advertising. People that actually listen to advertisements are normally the ones that don't really look into the actual phone, and instead they just get hypnotized by the actual media they are looking at. Droids are true exclusives and I'm pretty sure they would rather sell those. The nexus might get a small ad on the internet, or an offer ad on their site, but I highly doubt they will make it a big deal. They want to sell droids way more than another parties phone.

So tell me why Verizon would have locked down exclusivity stateside if they aren't interested in selling this phone to a target audience and drawing said audience to their network...???

We are the target audience, the ones that already know about the phone. Verizon would make the phone exclusive because they know the phone has potential, but mainly to us that are already trying to figure out when it launches. They don't need to make ads to boost sales, the ones that really want it, know about it, and are reading up about it on websites. They are basically getting free advertising just by all the blogs and forums.

If there is no announcement tomorrow and the phone does launch Thursday morning (maybe a small PR in the morning)

Would that be the first time Verizon has ever gone through with a silent launch? AKA-No preorder, no announcement a day or two before, and no real advertising before it launches??????

Sometimes they don't advertise a device before it's launch they advertise after the launch. Rezound case in point.
