Help Macro Photo Mode?

ridingduo

Is it me, or can I not find an app that will utilize some kind of close-up capability?

I take it our Triumph just doesn't have it?

"It" meaning the ability to do any serious close-up photos without an add on lens?

I've looked for, and have been trying several apps...but NEVER do I see a MACRO option in ANY focus options.

Anyone, with any ideas?

Thanks!

The MT does focus to "macro distances" when in auto mode. Most camera software just have an extra 'macro' setting so it doesn't spend time hunting the full range for focus. I just tried taking a picture of something about 1-2 inches away and it focused on it fine (small depth of field of course).

Actually this lack of macro mode may account for the long shutter delay most reviewers complained about. By grouping macro with normal focus, the phone searches the whole range for every picture, whereas other cameras lock to normal mode, so it skips the macro range.

If you want to go even closer (then the phone will cast a shadow on the object), you could get a macro lens designed for phone cameras, they either attach by a rubber band or a self-sticky rubber (search on ebay).

I guess I need to call VM and get a replacement then. This one will not focus on anything close up. I have tried all focus modes and distances from 2-8 inches. Distance shots are the only ones that turn out and even they are not that great.

I received the replacement today and it works. I am now able to take macro shots and they are not blurry. There is a clicking sound that comes from where the camera is on the body of the phone when it is focusing. It works though so I guess I am good for now.

Seems like about half of them do, or maybe even higher, but only half of the people really notice it:

That is a pretty small sample to make any concrete conclusions about all the phones from. You may be entirely correct, but you could also have a sample of most of the people that have that issue as well and it might be far less than half. It is really hard to tell unless the sample size were much larger. You can't really draw much in the way of a good statistical analysis from a sample of that size. But it is all we have to go from at this point.

I'm starting to believe these small CMOS camera sensors all suffer from some sort of "hotspot" tint problem. From my first Acer Liquid, to the MT, and to a recent OV I bought for someone else. (my original was the only OV that didn't have it noticeably). Some are more severe than others, and only show under certain conditions. Actually most photos taken have some sort of un-uniform tint in florescent lighting under close examination. I'm afraid it's just the nature of this generation of cheap sensors. You're right the sample size is very small, but I'm willing to bet it is close to half for the MT.
