I got the Rezound yesterday from the Verizon store for $32X. I renewed the contract. BUT I see now it's on amazon for $149. Can I return the phone to Verizon, get a refund, go back to using my old smartphone, (probably pay the restocking fee), then order it from Amazon, renew my contract, and then activate the phone? This would save me $140. I'm pretty peeved that I jumped on the rezound without checking amazon the day I got it.

I did this and purchased from Costco. Even got Verizon to waive the restocking fee by promising to reactivate and stay with them!

I just asked verizon this over the phone and they told me if i had any issues with the phone regarding the 14 day return period (customer satisfaction warranty) I couldn't return it to verizon and would have to deal with Amazon. I just see getting better service from VZW "if" something was wrong with my phone. .... but 150.00 is alot.

And they definitely will not price match!

Depending on your state you may have 3 or 14 days to return it. You passed the three day mark, but I would try going in and return it under their 14 day policy.
Or try calling customer care and ask for a retention specialist, when they ask why, be polite, but firm. Tell them you feel more comfortable discussing your concerns directly with customer retention.
Tell retention how great you think they (VZW) are, but the extra cost and it being the same phone leaves you wondering about their customer service, can they assist you with either a rebate or reduction in future billings to make up the difference.
Good luck and thank them profusely at all times as they generally only get complaints.
