Stand-alone calendar and task list... Jorte?

Hi All,

I'm a complete Noob to Android, having used windows Mobile for the last several years. On my old phone, I used Agenda One for my calendar. It had the following perfect features which I'm trying to recreate on my HTC Desire S:

• Calendar displays as Agenda view on home screen
• Agenda lists both appointments and tasks.
• Tasks remain visible in agenda for ever, until marked as complete
• Agenda shows all days, irrespective of whether there's anything happening on that day, so that a quick glance shows how far away the event is, eg
  • Mon 01 Wash dog
  • Tue 02
  • Wed 03
  • Thus 04 Trim toenails
  • Fri 05
  • Sat 06

• Calendar is completely self contained - no synchronisation with anything like google, outlook, etc.

The closest I've found so far is Jorte, which does all the things in green.

It's biggest failing is that incomplete tasks disappear off the list, even if not marked as complete. So in the above example, If I didn't manage to wash the dog on Mon, the task would dissapear, I'd forget to wash the dog, then I'd get a row from my wife. If I could get Jorte to carry on showing incomplete tasks in the agenda, then I'd be happy with it.

The item in blue is a nice to have - I don't think Jorte can do this - perhaps another calendar can?





So...

1. Can Jorte be forced to leave important tasks on the agenda until they ase marked as complete?
2. Does anyone know of a calendar app which meets the wish-list above?

I've managed to do everything you are asking, but I actually used a combination of 3 apps and well, interlinked them to work together.

For calendar events, schedules, I use the stock calendar, while for tasks, I use Astrid. Astrid can create calendar events out of tasks if you want those to sync to Google Calendar, or you can sync Astrid to Producteev.com, which can sync to Google Tasks if you like that sort of thing. Now of course you know the stock calendar features so I won't go into that. Astrid on the other hand lets you set tasks with no deadline, along with importance.

Now for the widget, I use Android Agenda Widget. It is able to display both Astrid tasks and Stock Calendar events in agenda view. Now since Astrid allows you to show have no deadline tasks, those tasks would stay there in the widget until you finished with it. I think overdue tasks would also not go away.

Actually, once you have the widget running, its going to be straightforward, since you won't need to open Astrid or the stock calendar widget themselves anymore. You can add events to the calendar, or add tasks straight from the widget (it has add event and add tasks buttons), so it would seem that you're only using one app.

I can't really speak if Jorte does all you demand since I removed it immediately because I did not like the widget.

Chanchan05, you are a star! I thought I was going to have to input via 2 different apps, and ouput via a widget. However, I've set everything up as you suggested, and it's all now doing exactly what I hoped it would do via the one widget interface. Brilliant!
