Help Vibration Observation

i may be crazy on this, but today I noticed that when typing, with key vibrate enabled, the vibration was very weak. Vibration duration was set to 102 in advanced keyboard settings. When I got home, I plugged the phone into the charger, and shortly thereafter, answered a text. The key vibration was much stronger. I'm wondering if ICS throttles back vibration intensity as the battery reserve lowers?

If so, this may explain why many are complaining about weak vibrate on incoming calls....although I think that even when plugged in to the charger, the SGN has a weak vibrator, compared to some of the other Android phones available.

I have often noticed this, and it's been driving me crazy. Sometimes the vibration response is strong, sometimes I feel like it's not even working at all. I thought maybe it was different in different apps, but I couldn't keep track of when it was happening.

I was also curious if it had something to do with battery level.

BTW, you have your duration set to 102ms? I didn't even know this setting was available, but mine is set to 5ms stock. How did you come up with 102ms?

EDIT: Now that i think about it, i do notice the vibration response being different. For example, i'll notice that theres no vibration from the keyboard, but then I'll notice a strong vibration if I enter my pin in Handcent, or change the phone from ring to vibrate, but maybe not when i'm entering my pattern to unlock the phone.

If you go into "Settings--->Language & Input---->Android Keyboard--->Advanced--->Vibration Duration Settings", you can adjust the vibration duration.

Thanks, ya, I realized that. I was just curious why yours is 102 and where you came up with that number. Just playing around with durations?

Yes, just experimenting with different levels. I originally had the Otterbox Defender case on the Nexus, so it took quite a bit of duration to feel anything through the industrial strength Otter case. I've since changed to the Seidio case, so I may reduce the duration a bit.
