Has anyone used a vehicle cradle with the Commando? Now that I have the GPS thing figured out (using the Google suite) I'd like to mount my phone securely in the car in a way that allows me to charge it. Thanks for any info.
I have an extra charging dock that would suit me fine. I just need to do some work to get it in the right spot. Was thinking maybe even velcro-ing it to the dash cover, could be easily removed when need be. Great for GPS and charging at the same time. Do you have an extra cradle?

The concept of using the cradle is great, you can charge using the external contact points. A couple of considerations that I see:

1. The cradle would need to be modified to hold the phone more securely
2. Does the cradle work with the car charging cord?

I may take some time to look more closely at this idea. THANKS!

Others have said the car charger works fine with the cradle. I have a nice snug fit in my cradle so I don't think normal driving conditions would be a problem, even some bumps. I'm doing more traveling these days and need to get my arse in gear and get something going with this arrangement. The above post does indeed show a good rig someone made. I don't think I need anything that intricate. Simple works fine.

I ordered a cheap windshield mount for my tablet yesterday.
It was only $12, but the ratings were very high and people couldn't believe
the quality for the cost. I'll bee the judge of that....
Now getting to the point:
It was said that this mount works for some phones too.
I'll try the Commando in it when it gets here and let yo know.

As far as charging is concerned:
A while back I had wired in a 3-way cig adapter behind the dash.
I use it for phone charging, music hard drive, and an old stand alone GPS.
If you use something like that, you can buy a usb charging adapter that will work with it.
(it would also work from your standard front cig lighter, but I made another behind the dash because I hate looking at wires) :)

Hey Eltee,

The mount I got for my Tablet works great for the Commando as well.
Here's the link:
Amazon.com: Arkon SM517 Windshield Mount for 7-Inch Tablets: Electronics

It holds the devise with spring loaded tension.
At first I was hesitant to use it with the Commando because it
has to sit in the mount horizontally to fit.
That means that the gripping feet are on the sides
(only for the Commando, they are top and bottom for my tablet)
I thought it might slip out if you hit a bump.
Not at all.
My Rig is no stranger to bumps either, it's a Jeep.
The spring provides plenty of tension to hold the Commando without issue.
You'd have to be doing some hard core off-roading for it to slip.

The windshield suction cup is tight as hell.
(It comes with an adhesive disc, if you'd rather mount to your dash.)
The mount is fully adjustable, and has 2 adjusting points.
Up/Down/Left/Right/Angled...all of it.
All ports are left uncovered for ease of charging and whatever else you'd need them open for.
For only $12, this thing works great.
The quality FAR EXCEEDS the price point IMHO.
