[Verizon] Stock mms app, disable / change graphical Smileys?

Is it possible to somehow decompile the stock messaging app to change from the android smileys to either something different or just disable them altogether? An odd request I know...but the little Android smileys just aren't to my liking lol..

I think you would need to change them in the framework-res.apk located in /system/framework/ the location within the apk is framework-res.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi

The png files you would need to replace are labeled "emo_im_variable.png" where variable changes. You should be able to pull the apk and replace those files using 7zip then push it back to the phone and reboot. Once you do that it should change them in the stock sms app.

I did that exactly, but no change in Smiles. That's pretty weird to find that there are now no Android default Smiles anywhere in framework-res.apk still it shows the same.
Any solution??
