Honestly, here's the deal - you cats are making this way too hard on yourselves.
Others have found that it is a good idea to put all wallpaper pictures under hide tags with brief description of what is there - landscape, seascape, pinup girl, sunset, etc etc.
That way, it's easier to get through a wallpaper thread on a mobile browser. For frequent visitors to this thread, it's easier because you'll be able to scroll through faster to catch up on the latest and you make it easier for newcomers to find areas of interest without being overwhelmed.
These threads have a way of rapidly growing and expanding. In no time you are going to have dozens of pages with 50 to 200 high resolution+ images to slog through, and if you don't try this practice from the start, I promise that the day will come when you wish you had.
And by the way, use common sense on nudity, thanks.
Ok, I went and put hide tags on all of page 2 - folks can notice that it loads much faster and should be easier to use - and at the same time, solves any NSFW issues.
I'm not responsible for some of the missing cheesecake - the image site providers found those out of bounds, I've left their notices in place, as I found them.

Thanks to a post of mrvirginia on page 1, where he mentions the 96 pixels , I decided to some testing with different sizings and wanted to share this with you. Hope someone can use it to create fully customized wallpapers:

Wallpaper screensize top -> soft buttons
Top/middle part (including Google top bar): 1184Hx1440W

To give you an idea, attached is an example based on a separate Google top bar image, a separate dock icons image and separate left + right screen.
The viewable desktop, accounting for not only the soft buttons at the bottom of the screen, but the status bar at the top, is only 1135 pixels, as measured from a screenshot taken:
Hiding pics, but here are links to a vertical version and horizontal version. I tested them on mine and they seem to work ok depending on what setup you have. I hope you enjoy!
I just went back to using the Aquarium Live Wallpaper (Kittehface Software), it looks great on this screen. I had it for my OG Droid but sometimes certain apps or turning off the phone would reset the wall paper to the standard one (grey background). No such problems on the Galaxy Nexus.
I like pretty much all of the wallpapers I've seen on this thread though, especially those pin-up ones .
There's definitely a couple I'm going to download if I decide to switch wallpapers.
Edit:
Just switched to this one, it'll probably use up less battery than the live one too.
You can also check out the thread of wallpapers that EyeBeam and others will create or size to your phone. Its called Willing to Make Wallpapers. (Or something very similar to that)
