A500 Accelerometer has issues

When I play some tilt games such as Air Penguin and NFS Hot Pursuit, the screen tilt for left and right are switched with forward and backward. I have to lean the tablet forward in order to turn left, and tilt it back to turn right. How do I change this? It does the same on my GF's tablet, also A500.

I do not have this problem with my A500 but I do have this problem with my A100

Have you found any solutions ? I sent it back to Acer as an RMA... I gave a very detailed report of the problem. They sent it back with the Diagnosis / Repair as : "Updated OS Version. Re-Set User Data. Tested Components"

Still doesn't work, I don't think they read my report at all... jerks.

I think you have to rely on developers to build the calibration options, axis switching into the app.
Some apps are designed for phones and assume portrait mode for deciding which is the X axis and which is Y.
Now that tablets are more common, developers are getting better at designing for honeycomb, but some older apps are still built for smartphones.

yeah but nfs shift is a tab game and works fine for most of us, he's saying its backwards for him....when he steers left it goes right, you are right thou as ive seen many apps/games that were made for 2.1 so only work in portrait mode. but yeah nfs shift shouldnt be like that.

theres is def' a acclerometer calibration setting somewhere but i still cant find it again lol.

Thanks, I understand what Jonnay0808 is saying, but we're talking about NFS Hot Pursuit, not NFS Shift, which works fine.

And Jonnay808 is saying the X and Y are switched, not left and right.

Army Sniper used to be like that on the tab, which made playing interesting, though it worked fine on my phone. The only fix was to wait for dev to update it for the tab. Now it works fine.

Good luck finding that calibration setting. Maybe you saw it on your phone?
My samsung phone has an accelerometer calibration setting under screen settings, but the Acer doesn't.

Maybe you saw it inside an app settings?

Even on the phone the calibration only lets you adjust the zero, so it doesn't drift to one direction. Or for spirit level type apps you can zero the bubble. It doesn't let you switch axis.
That has to be built in the app.

I tried to find one of the apps where I saw the settings for changing axis, but they all seem to have been updated for tabs now.

you know now i think about it i remember!!!

i was out with a mate in the car and tried to use gmaps while gmaps started up, a menu box came up saying my compass needs calibration i do think it said something about axis but not 100% sure, seriously ive never had the same menu come up on any other device i have on gmaps. now wether ive got that mixed up and it wont do anything for the accellerometer im not sure,

also gps-essentials has a option to put the tab flat on a surface and recalibrate axis is that any help? i dont think calibrating the axis for gps will affect the accellerometer will it?
