Incoming Texts

I'm having issues texting. I can send the messages just fine, but I'm not receiving any. I've tried changing my settings (to manual update and back to auto) and that didn't work. I tried restarting my phone, and nothing. Is this one of those take-it-into-Sprint-and-watch-them-pretend-they-know-what-they're-doing situations?

My issue is if phone been idle for a bit I will get text about 10 min after it being sent or when i click on messages when i unlock phone. After that I get test instantly, even if I put it back to sleep I will get them fast. But, if it stays idle for bit then i get large delay in receiving them.

Tried the tips, clear cashe for browser, soft reset, ext. Dont feel like adding another app just to fix it but may have to if it becomes a issue..hoping the new update will fix it whenever it comes out.

I've had this problem recently as well. Rooted phone, stock messaging app. A few times, I've picked up the phone and unlocked it, and received messages that were sent earlier but I wasn't notified of. Sometimes I just don't get any texts at all. Sometimes shutting it off/on seems to work, but texts sent while I wasn't receiving never come through. I'll be able to send fine, but not receive. Annoying! I've taken to texting myself from time to time to make sure it's working, heh.

I have been using yahoo messenger to send myself a text from time to time as well.

Had this problem quite a bit. Not sure what the exact fix is, but one that works for me, Go to Settings->About Phone->System Updates->Update PRL & Update System Profile. Then I usually restart my phone and texts work again. BUT, I never receive any that were sent to me before doing that. Sprint says that they keep any texts sent to you for 72 hours and they keep sending, but I've never gotten any. I usually do this a couple times a week just too make sure that I'm getting my texts.

i had this problem back in Oct'09. not rooted, using stock app. exchanged phones and not fixed. with the 3rd sprint rep, we did something similar to socodef (poster#10) and all was good.
my conspiracy theory is that these text, vm, and pic texting issues are a problem with sprint's data software interfacing with the androids. and like toyota, they don't know what the fix is. the software guru's i'm sure are trying to fix it, but the problem is that it's not repeatable except on a phone that has issues. and it seems that percentage is still small.
boy, i miss my "dumb phone" that had zero texting problems...

I was having the same problem too, and after talking to a Sprint tech rep, his only solution was to do a hard reset. That worked for about two days, and then my texts stopped coming again. Did a soft reset, and that worked for again, about a day or two, so I had resorted to just trying to remember to reboot my phone once a day to make sure my texts were coming. (Not the best solution, since I only ever remembered to reboot when I realized I hadn't received any texts in a while, and then it was too late) I tried what socodef suggested:

Go to Settings->About Phone->System Updates->Update PRL & Update System Profile. Then I usually restart my phone and texts work again.

Updated PRL and Profile about two wks ago. Texts are coming as normal and haven't had any problems since. :)
