Camera Improvements?

Just wondering if anyone who has experience with any of the leaked ICS updates for Nexus can speak to ANY camera improvements? I know the cam gets a bad rap, and I have seen some shortcomings, namely the motion blur on almost any shot, but I have taken some really nice pics with this phone and a fix (if possible) for that would make it about perfect.

I'm not sure if there were any camera improvements moving to LiquidSmooth's 4.0.4, but I took this one this morning. Stock camera app, no adjustments to settings, no flash, ambient room light only.

IMO, i think the camera improved coming from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4. it MAY just be plecebo effect but i think it has gotten slightly better.
there is a thread over at android central on this but it kinda blew up (partially my fault for defending the camera being labeled as crappy by another user) and i took a shot as close as i could to one i took on 4.0.3.
here are the results:

4.0.3 ROM

4.0.4 ROM, IMO, this is a slight improvement over the 4.0.3 photo, not to mention, on my pc, the colors look more accurate on the 4.0.4 photo.

also, i dont get motion blur really on moving objects. here is a pic i took when i first got my phone...pretty sure i was on stock 4.0.2 here.

Those are some very nice macro shots. The jumping whale shot is surprising to me. Might be the distance, or the lighting was perfect for the moment. I'm not sure.

Indoors, trying to snap a shot of my dogs or my kids, someone or something is ALWAYS moving and this camera cannot compensate.

yeah i get that too with pets. so maybe it is the distance....the lighting in the whale shot was horrendous IIRC. but for the most part, i get some pretty solid shots, and i believe 4.0.4 brought on a slight camera improvement.

I see blur with any indoor motion shots. In bright light its not a problem. I don't know if a 3rd party camera app might help. Seems like the stock camera tries to compensate for low light with a really long exposure which creates the blur.

Which is unfortunate since I'd rather under expose than get blur. Can often tweak photos after that are too dark or dull.

can't you adjust the exposure on the stock camera?

maybe messing around with that a bit would yield better results

I would LOVE a camera app that gives you 100% control over shutter, f stop and ISO.

There is an exposure setting (-3, -2, -1, 0, +1, +2, +3), but my photography skills and knowledge are below beginner...

I'm not sure if it's a CUSTOM ROM improvement or a 4.0.4 improvement, but I read somewhere on the forum that now when you press the camera button it will do a quick auto-focus (similar to what tapping the screen does).

The problem with using the exposure compensation is it seems to just increase the ISO which quickly introduces noise in a sensor this small. I posted tips a little while ago to really try to use that sparingly.

Camera zoom fx is a pretty cool app that will help with motion blur. It's more of a focus issue than a shutter issue.

I disagree on it being a focus issue. Indoors my photos are in focus, but if someone in the frame is moving or moving an arm, the moving object is blurred. In bright lights, such as out in the sun, moving objects are both in focus and 'frozen in time'. No blur.

Agreed. "Motion blur" is a shutter issue. Blurriness in general is a focus issue.
