Hey guys so I will be purchasing the Connect tomorrow and it will be my first android phone and first metropcs phone transitioning from AT&T.

1. I would like to know ideal tips on how to save battery life

2. Useful apps such as new keyboards and tools to toggle off whatever is not need at certain times

3. Anything else i should be concerned about with the Connect

I did read this thread....

http://androidforums.com/lg-connect...-tips-prolonging-battery-life-lg-connect.html

but some questions still remain unanswered.

Also what does it mean when a phone is "rooted" ?

and if anyone has any idea if that one gold Japanese 2400mah battery fits the connect some people were talking about in the forums and how effective it was.....

thanks

Turn your 4G off when you're not using it. That's the thing that will tax your battery the most of anything else. It is possible to get the stock battery to last all day but that's with very light use.

The best solution will be to get an extended battery. People with the 1900mah battery have reported a few more hours of battery life. Those with the 3500mah have reported almost doubling their battery life.

It gives you control over every aspect of your phone. Things like over and underclocking your phone, changing the cpu behavior and many other things. It's not required to do anything. It's just something for those who want to have more control over their phone.

No one has reported anything on the 2400mah battery yet.

I believe the talk about the 2400mah battery has died out unfortunately. I was really hoping for good reviews of it. But nope. None bad either.*

Rooting is, as described above, a way to get complete control over your entire phone it is similar to sudo control in Linux. If u look in the all things root sub forum you should learn a lot. It will let u tether but u can also really mess up your phone and even brick it if you don't know what you are doing. Be careful *with great power comes great responisbility. Also you can only overclock and underclock based on your kernel. The stock one does not allow overclocking.*

Now as far as battery life is concerned, there are a few apps you can use to help it, but in the end it is based on how much you use ur phone and what u use it for and where. Juice defender is a great app. On the balanced profile, it will turn off your data when ur screen is off. This saves a lot of battery because the 4g is what kills most of the battery. Another app that I find helpfull is called llama. It uses ur location and changes you make to your phone to perform certain actions. It does not use gps to find location so it saves a lot of battery. It uses the cell towers. Only work if u have a few cell towers around you. The more the better. I set mine to turn on my wifi and change the volume when I'm at home and lower the volume at night and stuff like that. I think it saves battery by turning on your wifi but jus having the convenience of it changing to wifi is nice especially if you are not on completely unlimited 4g speeds. *If you do choose to root, there are many apps that can be used to underclock your phone which is allowed with stock kernel. This will save a lot of battery during use by limiting the speed of ur processor and therefore how much power it uses. make sure u turn off any automatic refreshes on any widgets or apps. This will save battery. There is an app called 4g toggle that will allow you to change your phone to CDMA only. This will save battery especially if you are in a place where your 4g is difficult to find.*

Other than that it just depends on use and signal where you are.*

U have to download the lg updates tool from the lg website then plug ur phone in and it will automatically detect ur phone and check for updates. Then jus a few clicks and let it update.
