Which is just a better phone overall in terms of snappiness (performance with apps and games), community (ROM support and such), Music experience

The Mini Pro has a qwerty which seems really inticing, but is it a good qwerty for emulators and games????

And the walkman, since it is marketed as a music oriented phone, is that experience really that better on it than the Mini Pro (since they are both sony erricson anyways)

Both have same performance ,same community support and same ROMs due to equal hardware .Both will receive ICS officially .

I would suggest taking a look at the mini pro and walkman live in person . The SE mini pro is actually mini. very compact design which not many guys may like .
The QWERTY experience will be better on it's bigger bro. i.e.,The SE Xperia Pro.

I think you might be right. I am aware of the Xperia Pro but that is a bit out of my price range of ~250, but then again it's not that much more expensive either. However one thing that does irk me just a bit is the headphone jack placement on the side. I keep thinking with that sort of placement, my headphones will for sure break with the cord tangling and such :S (any opinions on this....??)

No difference aside from the form factor and screen size. Really, the following phones are practically identical in performance and specs (including audio quality), varying only in form factor:

  • Xperia Mini: 3" display, 320x480, 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, Adreno 205 GPU, 512MB RAM
  • Xperia Mini Pro: QWERTY keypad version of the Mini
  • Xperia Active: rugged and water resistant version of the Mini, no front camera
  • Live Walkman: slightly bigger form factor and screen (3.2") than the Mini, otherwise pretty identical

My PSP had the same headphone placement as the Xperia Pro and I've never had issues with it. Then again, it's usually in my jacket pocket and not my jeans pocket (too big). Might want to consider headphones with an L-shaped connected, though.

Saw the Xperia Pro MK16i for $235 from YesAsia and some really good prices on the other phones you're considering (Xperia Mini Pro SK17i $173, Live Walkman WT19i $178). I think they ship to China. Why not buy from them?

Caveat with the Xperia Pro, the higher resolution might make for worse gaming performance.

Yesasia....never heard of that before but I'll check it out. But either way I was going back to the states soon and was gonna order it from amazon to my friends house (where I'll be staying :p).

And yeah, I think youre right about the Pro performance in gaming. Atleast in PC gaming, the lower the resolution the better the performance, I think that applies here no? An HVGA game will play better than qHD with the same processer :S
