Help phone stuck on vibrate when trying to install cwm recovory

hello and my apologies if i am posting a redundant topic, as i am far from tech savvy by any means, i have been looking all over the net for a solution to my problem and have had no luck so far...

i have the motorola triumph - i have rooted the phone - and according to "root checker" app, and the ability to download and use rooted apps i can only assume i have done that correctly - and i believe rooting the phone is not integral to installing a custom ROM and CWM, i get as far as going to replace the recovery.img with "issacs cwm recovery download - i save and remove the old one replacing it with the new one, then i unplug and remove battery from phone then use volume up,down, and power - all that happens is the phone stays completely off and vibrates till i take battery out - please ANY help ANYONE could provide would be greatly appreciated i'm going nuts with this! thank you

im not saying that you may not have done it, but you do have to hold all the buttons for awhile

also ill guess you used the MT_CWM_5504, how exactly did you install it?

if thats the one you used did you unzip in and only move the recovery.img to the phone, or did u move the whole zip file?

hello, and thank you for the response - yes i am quite sure i am holding the 3 keys down long enough - i was believing it may have been a problem with the zip file or unziping it rather - i have unzipped it and get the message "no mountable file systems" i have downloaded multiple versions of CWM's and i keep getting this - am i unzipping the file wrong? i believe my macbook pro automatically unzips files when double clicked and to make sure i even downloaded a file extractor and keep getting same results?? i'm stumped did i mess something up? is there a way to go back and start the whole process as if you had never tried it? my phone seems to be working fine - i just can't wait to get more control over it and be rid of that annoying virgin boot forever! thanks again so much for your time and efforts - as for how i installed it i followed these steps with success till step 13 http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...stalling-cwm-custom-rom-motorola-triumph.html
i also downloaded a different version of cwm with same results -

i really need to get this problem addressed i can't focus on anything else it's driving me crazy

as long as the phone is working fine then replacing the recovery with the stock one would make it as if it were back to normal, but u need CWM recovery for backups and custom roms

i would suggest 7-zip or winzip, just so u can try and unzip the folder without ur mac doing it, then on isac's thread like you said you were on get the recomended MT 5504 zip, unzip the whole thing into a folder, lets say on ur desktop

turn ur phone on into download mode, connect it to the pc

replace just the recovery.img with the one from the zip

safely disconnect hardware, allowing you to unplug the phone from the pc

after the phones disconnected then pull battery

then hold power, vol+, vol-, during the next boot and you should go into CWM recovery mode
Note:nothing can be plugged into the phone while booting to recovery

thanks for your reply, i've tried extracting it with winzip and i'm recieving the same message when tring to view file (only doing this cuz install isnt working) - what should file say when opened? it is also saying that the file is approx 5mb so i don't undersatnd the no mountable file systems message?

after you unzip you shouldnt be tryin to open any of the files, you unzip to a folder, inside the folder will be 2 things i believe META-INF folder, ignore this, and a file named recovery.img, dont open it

power the phone on in download mode and then hook it to the pc, you should see a folder named MOBILE appear, if the recovery in that folder is the stock one name it recoveryold.img so u know which it is and u can move it

replace the recovery.img with the one that was inside the zip folder you just created

select safely dissconnect the hardware or whatever the option says on the computer itself

then unplug the phone and removed the battery

then boot the phone while holding power, vol+ and Vol-

it should show you the splash logo, keep holding the buttons

it should then go into CWM recovery mode

EDIT: would also suggest watching minus5252 youtube videos, altho in this video i believe hes installing the 5.0.2.6 edition but the method of installing should still be the same
