Help Please help - IS my phone hacked?

Hi guys please help me,
For last couple of weeks my phone behaves vry strangly, as it behaves like someone hacked my phone and controlling it. random touch screen presses, and random apps opening and can see moving slides. i tried rebooting my phone, also did a recovery, still nothing.

when this happnes, screen becomes unresponsive for presses. and everytime this happenes, i hav to restart my phone a

and then same will happen after an hour.

can someone kindly help me to resolve this issue.......

Have you given your phone to anyone/lost it for any amount of time when it could have been hacked? How long have you had it? Is it rooted? Was it bought from new or second hand?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am trying to work out how best to advise you

Thanks for your message, its bought SIM free brand new. and I have not given to anyone for longer time. or even lost it. and not rooted as well.

Its very strange, screen behaves like its hacked as can see apps being pressed and opened, and scrolling etc. i called htc they tried reboot and recovery. and it was ok for a day and now started to behave the same.

when this happens screen becomes unresponsive and only way to resolve is to restart the phone....,,

I tried google it, and ppl say its can be charger, software issue etc...

Have you tried to update the firmware on the phone to see if it rules out faulty software since your phone is non rooted? If you've done that or for some reason it won't allow you to then it seems more like a hardware problem as in a fault with the touch screen. I'm surprised HTC never asked you to send it into them.

currently android version 2.3.5 and htc sense v 3.0 and sfotware number 3.12.405.1
itried to updae it, but no updates available.

should i try and root this device...i hav to google it and find out how to go about it, as im not good with these stuf...

is there any manual way of updating the firware? SORRY FOR SILLY QUESTIONS...

Rooting your phone would void your warranty... as Brutal says, it sounds like a hardware issue... before you go down the rooting road, I'd try get HTC/your carrier to have a look at it.

If you do want to root, then there is a "how to" on here that I can point you towards

Maybe put the phone in Airplane mode for a while so that all data connections will be disabled. If this stops the problem, I think that would support your theory about the phone having been hacked (although I've never heard of this particular problem before - has anyone else?). If the problem still persists, then I'd guess is is related to the phone itself - either hardware or software.

There have been many debates here about the value of antivirus apps on Android phones but, given your situation, I'd certainly download one and do a complete scan of your phone. There are many such products in Google Play - I use AVG, others swear by Lookout, and both are free.

john_g's advice is sound... try that... although, as you said that you have had the phone from new and have not lost it/had it out of your possession at all, then I am pretty sure that your phone will not have been hacked.

If you are worried about malwear having been installed on your phone, try installing Avast - it will scan your phone and let you know if there is any malwear on there

By the way, this is the most up to date version of Android, which is why you cannot update

I know you've have probably done this but take the battery out and leave it out for 10 mins or so then place it back in and turn on. Once on do a factory reset. Just remember any messages, emails and apps will be wiped. Your contacts should be backed up via Google but it doesn't hurt to back them up anyway. Back any user apps up, not system ones if you use TB etc. You could also try cleaning up your SD card. This wont be wiped when you do a factory reset so you need to do it yourself. Best thing to do is copy everything except the android and android secure folders to your pc, format your SD card (fat32) then place all the files you backed up back onto your SD card and insert back into your phone. Try the posts above first, they are good tips to start with! If it still plays up or can't find any malware etc then it looks like a repair maybe on the cards.

thank you very much guys, I will try Anti virus to scan first, and see where that takes me, if that doesnt work, i will try and do what Brutal suggested, will update soon.
