BUMP, in case you haven't seen this article.. with Droid doing so well why introduce the Incredible? (my analysis). :rolleyes:

Because the iPhone is at 50% and by releasing a device to actually compete/blow it out of the water...especially now that people are really fussing about AT&T coverage, the intro of the iPad (data hog as well) to have more than one flagship device would make sense.

The less market share you have the more you have to fight. People don't get the Droid because of the keyboard. People don't like the lack of app storage capacity. People think it's slow. The Incredible (we assume) addresses all of that AND more. That's why I think they should do it. That and because I want one dammit :cool:

EDIT: And the iPhone is 24% of all devices used while the Droid is 3.8% (and in second).

I also think they appeal to two different type of people, those who want the slide out QWERTY and those who don't. I know a lot of people that say "Give me a slide out N1 and I am sold!" and others that like the virtual keyboard. I am sure they will still have Droid sales even with the release of the Incredible.

No new news I see. That's ok, I have no problem waiting. Hopefully we'll at least get a little tidbit today. I have no doubt this phone will be out in April.

I will say this about this forum (one of my first impressions since switching over to Android fandom), it seems like everyone here is much nicer with each other (despite the bickering and name-calling) than they were at my last phone forum on Crackberry. Over there, asking a simple question could get you called names and mocked simply because you didn't already know the answer. Nice to see that so far, this place isn't like that. Just a bunch of like-minded people who want info on a great phone!

I'd rather not share, nothing personal. I did quite a bit of digging to come up with it. There's also not really anything else worth noting. The person made about 5 clips from that account yesterday at the same time, all were 2 seconds and worthless except for those 2. No mentions anywhere of HTC, Verizon, or the Incredible. We haven't had this account come up yet on the forum that I know of, like I said I just stumbled across it while looking at twitter followers/followees of the accounts we did know. Her only other posts on twitter are jibberish tests it looks like.

There are a couple more things worth noting. I want to protect this person's privacy as well, but I did find a few more details.

First, I hosted a full copy of the video (the longer one) to YouTube in case anyone here can tell us what the people in the video are saying:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNZouVLz66E

The person who posted this has a Facebook page, a Flickr account and a YouTube account. From those, I was able to find out the following:

--she is 28 years old and lives in Taiwan;
--she has been posting to facebook using HTC Sense since mid-January (which doesn't necessarily mean anything);
--she follows HTC on facebook;
--she took a business trip to Seattle from Taiwan prior to March 10, 2010! That's the date she posted pictures on facebook showing the pike place market, etc. Unfortunately, no pics of the Incredible or anything else business-related on her Facebook or Flickr pages, but toward the end of one of her YouTube videos (which I've re-uploaded from my account, again to protect privacy), you can catch a glimpse of the Incredible to the left of the keyboard:

Once again, I don't think this is anything to soil ourselves over, but it's kinda cool nonetheless.

Since you mentioned it I watched the same exact "fan boy slap fight" over at crackberry while I was watching the release of the storm2.

Well first of all it Was a valid call. I needed the etf info to formulate an alternate game plan since the primary plan is apparenty based on rumor and speculation. And secondly............ SHE ASKED!!!! :)

I didn't say your call to CSR wasn't valid...but your proposal to get everyone to follow suit and call and complain was what I was commenting on.

So if they were going to announce the phone (or at least begin running ads) on April 1st, you most likely would have heard something by now?

Because it seems like from what you're saying they could announce it April 1st, and then have a release on say the 20th with training etc to go on for the 3 weeks in between? (I'm merely picking popular dates people, no info here)

I just feel like once this BOGO deal is over March 31, they are going to push something. Maybe they wait another week to announce, but still they usually have some angle they are pushing.

Droid was a unique situation- it was their first Android phone, the game-changer, their baby.. They wanted to create buzz, which obviously was a huge success. Thats the only time I can remember where ads started running before we got any concrete info. With the INC, I'd be surprised if they did any kind of large-scale marketing campaign prior to release. Obviously once its out, they'll tout it as an upgrade to the Droid for those who havent discovered Android yet, but I don't think that they think that it'll have as big a splash as the Droid did. Obviously, all of us are foaming at the mouth to get at it, but that's because we know the specs etc. Joe Blow doesn't even know this phone exists- I can maybe see them doing a bigger campaign for the N1 if it ever comes, since its a model thats already out and much more people are aware of..
In regards to the BOGOs, I'm not sure whats up their sleeve- I do agree, there always seems to be some promotion or other running 24/7, but I havent heard anything about what might be coming next. I'll ask about that this weekend and report back..
