I should know better from my days of having a G1, but I have just been lazy....a wipe does wonders. I was having lots of lag, especially re-loading the home screen. I haven't been switching b/w ROM's...been using Koush's rom for a few weeks, but I have tried lots of themes. Long story short, backed up using Titanium Backup...wiped everything....restored my apps and my phone is blazing again.

how does one back up everything using titanium? i have it but have not figured out how to back everything at once

i would like to clean up some but dont want to lose any settings

Download Titanium - free version works...donate version is much faster cause you don't have to give permission to each and every app you are restoring...but it still works.

To backup: press the soft menu key > Batch > RUN - Backup all user apps + system data

To restore: press the soft menu key > Batch > RUN - Restore missing apps and choose the one "with data", or "+ all system data"...you want to run the "all system data" if you are returning to the same rom. I use "with data" when switching roms and then I select which apps I want to restore. If you choose "with data" it will not restore thing like bookmarks, you email settings (pop or imap...gmail is not associated with it), Clock (for your alarm settings), etc.

To manually restore the settings mentioned above (from the initial screen when you open Titanium), press "Backup/Restore" and then scroll through the apps you want to restore.

Agree...had lag issues in cyanogenmod installed via update.zip over another ROM...did a wipe/install and all lag issues are gone.

Running cyanogen 5.0.5.4 with nextheme and it's working well. Feels as fast as any ROM I've run, and the only ROM on which I've been able to run Launcher2 w/out any lag whatsoever.

When flashing this rom or any other I would suggest doing a Nandroid backup of your current rom and then wiping EVERYTHING before installing (unless you're doing an update.zip of the same rom). I think this is the best way to reduce your chance of running into bugs. I'm not sure how Koush's rom manager works but I'm assuming you can backup/wipe before installing. Most people don't want to employ this method b/c of having to repopulate all apps from their (titanium) backup and having to re-setup their email accounts but to me it's worth it if it means you increase your chances of having a stable rom.

Anywho, I've been running this rom for a few days now and I really like it but my browser has been a tad bit finicky (doesn't multitask) and every now and then the launcher stalls (pretty annoying). Other than that, I don't really have any complaints that I can think of. I'm sticking with this rom for now.

My Backup Pro has added market data backup and root access (if you have root), but it caused me problems when I tried to use it to restore market data...for now, the only app I trust for that is Titanium...it is a great app and deserves dev support...if you use and like the free version the donate version provides more speed and is worth it - he updates very frequently and is very responsive to input/suggestions.

gotcha thanks UBR it seems like every time i need help you show up lol

NP...I'm addicted to this damn place!...I just can't seem to log off for long ;)
Good people keep me coming back!

Would MyBackup Pro work instead of using Titanium?

I also only see a free version of titanium in the market.

Well...yes and no. It backs up your apps but for games for example...it won't save your game data the way Titanium will....Titanium backs up EVERYTHING...the free version is better than Mybackup Pro IMO.

You download Titanium free and then you can donate within the app to get your license. It may take a few days to get...just FYI.

For Ti Backup, I would advise against backing up ALL user apps + data by itself. I went from BB whatever version to CM v1 using this method, and it seemed to transfer over some things from the BB rom. Things were acting all wonky and a bit slow, probably because it re-loaded many of the system apps. Let's just say things weren't meshing well.

What I would do is select the All apps + data from the Batch option, and then unselect all of the system apps and most of the stuff that is red. I only backup my downloads from Market as well as System settings, Desktop settings (and maybe data), SMS/MMS data, etc. The only green option I do not select is the actual Launcher/Home app. I'm thinking that's the one that caused my weird settings. The only red option I remember selecting is the Talk data.

After doing this, I've wiped System/Data a few times and all of the necessary stuff comes back after re-loading everything from Ti Backup and a reboot. The only thing is you'll have to redo all of your widgets, but that's always been the case for me after a nandroid restore or a reload from Ti Backup. HTH.
