Help incredible wont update and now the power button stopped working

for months my phone has tried to do a system update- does the countdown but never does the update! i have not had any problems so i havent worried to much about it. then tonight i received a txt-used the power button to "wake" it up- read the txt and responded....plugged it in to charge-phone went to "sleep" and another txt came in....i picked up my phone and the power button now is not working!!! the only way to "wake" up the phone is to pull the plug from the charger!!! ugh...what is going on??? is verizon sending out things to make your phone go wonky to get you to update to a newer phone???? grrrr

It's coincidental most likely, the power button on the incredible is known to fail. You can try cleaning around the power button or blowing some compressed air into it. Other than that, the power button is replaceable .
