Not getting the speed you need? Not all phones like all modems (i.e len lg8 etc etc etc)

Well, if you wanna give a different modem software version a try, heres how you do it. Download the newest .zip installer, flash in recovery and select the modem of your choosing. Then youll just wanna give it a test drive to see how your phone reacts to it and go from there. Id advise making a nand b4 doing this so you can restore to where you were b4 you started.

Oh, it uses something called the aroma installer (which might be foreign to many of you, but its pretty sweet) I mention this because the first thing itll ask you to select is the interface type you prefer. It honestly doesnt matter which you select as its merely the layout of the GUI (graphical user interface) Oh, its all touchscreen too just like twrp!!!!

Enjoy

Just clearing something up, nandroid back ups don't back up the modem/radios (I'm so used to saying radios so if I post that then folks will know, lol). To revert back to a previous modem you would have to flash that modem again.

Now piggybacking you, these modems are different per person. In my area and my phone, LIF works the best. I bet someone else in my city with the S3 has LG8 or LI3 radios and it works great for them, lol.

Couple questions about modems. What do they actually do? Do they determine your signal strength? And is there a way to tell which one works best in my area before flashing them?

Modems are your radios in the phone that communicate with Sprint towers, airave, roaming towers, etc. The only way to know which one works best for you is to flash it and see first hand how it connects to the towers in the areas you frequent.

How safe is changing the modems? QBKing77's videos makes it look simple but I cannot afford to brick my phone again haha.

As simple as flashing a zip. I have the LIF and LJ7 modems on my sd card. LIF just works for me but I haven't been a lot of places recently to test LJ7 so I keep it there just in case I feel like experimenting

I guess what I mean is none of them will brick my phone right ? All of them should just install smoothly?

Please forgive the constant and probably very basic questions but if you remember from my troubles last week you tried helping me with I don't want to screw myself again even tho that was my stupidity.

Correct and no problem. I'm cautious as well. I make sure all of the downloads are good and the transfers to my phone are good too.

Don't forget like any developer would say, you flash at your own risk. I haven't had a problem

Oh I did have one more question. The modems listed in the video does not have the modem that my phone is currently using. I am currently on L13 or LI3 not sure if its a 1 or an I. How would I get this modem back if it turns out to be the best for me?

Yea that did nothing, still gave the message. Tried flashing back to the LI3 modem and it didnt the sim message didnt come up. I forgot to try and send a text to test but I was getting signal bars even with that message.
