[ROM] Harmonia 2 13Oct12

The boot animations were properly resized.
Probably one of those instances where I have to build them from scratch.

I have been playing around with boot animations a lot and it seems that framerate effects then greatly. I will attach two of the same bootanimation, one has a framerate of 10 and the other 12. the first shows only black screen... I dont make any other changes...

as far as i can tell there was no change in the way it was saved. I used the same program (winrar) with the same settings.
But did u do the compression "Store"
I don't know if it will help
but if you want to do a team viewer some time I don't mind helping you out

(I got my boot animation to work 320x240 compression = "Store" .png desc.text = 240 320 15
p 0 0 part0)

not saying u have to put it with winrar i just find it easier to use with that ^^'

I tried installing this but I think Im doing something wrong...

I'm kinda new to this so please give me a step-by-step guide to doing this. I installed ClockworkMod & Backed up my current rom but when I go to install from SD it reboots & stays on a black screen. Had to remove the battery & reboot, everything is fine with the phone after that but Id really like to do this also what will happen to the apps Ive already installed on my phone? Will they be gone, should I back them up?

PLEASE HELP!

how long did you let it sit on that black screen before taking out your battery? its normal after installing a new ROM for the first boot to take quite a while. also, the custom boot animation that is in the Harmonia ROM is not functioning correctly, so it just displays a black screen. reinstall the rom and just wait thru the black screen. ive had the first boot take up to 3 minutes before. hope this is your issue! if not, please let me know! we'll get this all figured out for ya! good luck!

just to be clear though, did you make it through the installation successfully? did it tell you that the installation was complete?

No, it did not & I let the phone sit for 10mins on that blank screen

Will I lose all my apps, can I add anything/remove from the rom file (i.e. Open the zip, add new apps, remove some I dont want)?

If so, do I have to redo the zip as 'store'?

To avoid confusion, it asks me if I'd like to reboot into recovery & just sits on the black screen thats slightly lit from behind (no matter HOW I try to reboot into recovery)
SIDE NOTE
I took the Harmonia Rom & changed ALOT of stuff in it (part of the coding, bootanimation & poweroffanimation, added/removed apps, I call it Hades 1.0)

Thats the boot image down there
boot00024.png

*boot image works, kinda... it flickers on the screen for a 2nd then goes black, Ill be uploading the rom but since I cant make the Harmonia rom work on mine this will be untested... I used the base stats of the harmonia rom but changed stuff.

OK, it was a problem with my recovery.img but I fixed that now the problem is in the signing of the rom... How do I do that?

u can either sign the rom with dsixda's kitchen, or you can just leave it unsigned and toggle the verification before flashing. as for your image, did you change the "hello" screen, or the virgin mobile animation that plays after it? btw, you should get it working on your phone before uploading to the forum for testing. ;-)
also, you should probably be starting off with the aeneas rom for building. its considered a base rom or "B.Y.O.R". harmonia was a customized release by leslie ann, but she released aeneas at the same time for people wanting to develop/theme.

O ok, Ill give that a try. I havent uploaded it or even tested it on my phone yet. I changed the Virgin Mobile bootanimation.zip (custom) & ot only shows up for like a second - how can I fix that?

I did a recovery to stock, removed the root (impossible to flash a rom that way) & realized I didnt have a Launcher, luckily I did something that asked me to sign into market so I went there, downloaded my antivirus, restored my apps & was good to go :D

im not sure if u quite understand, but it is totally possible to flash a rom while rooted. i do it almost everyday. before you tried flashing harmonia, did you do a full system wipe through CWM? if not, im sure that is the reason why it didnt work. in any case, i would re-root, install Titanium Backup, and back up all of the apps you dont want to lose. with titanium backup, you can always restore your apps and data from your old rom after flashing. a full wipe of the system is going to be necessary for u to flash a custom rom (harmonia, aeneas, etc...) and have it work. the method i use in CWM is: wipe data (factory reset), wipe cache partition, and wipe dalvik cache (in advanced menu). did you do these steps before trying to flash?
if you would like, you can go ahead and upload your bootanimation.zip, and ill take a look at it for u.

yeah, the best and easiest was to flash is cwm recovery. u can try replacing the launcher, just might take some trial and error. just make sure u dont throw any "pro" version of anything in ur rom, as that is piracy. i changed the launcher in my rom just fine, but just make sure to choose a launcher that will have good performance on the venture. just do a little testing. some "launchers" also rely on the stock launcher still being intact. like i said.... trial and error.
