Another Convo w/ A VZW Rep.

Yesterday i called a Sales Rep for VZW. Mostly, because i was bored and wanted to see if just for fun i could goad anything out of him (yeah i know its a phonecall, so its occasionally monitored)
The Following Occured:

Me: "Hey there, i was calling because my contract is up and i had a few pressing questions regarding what new phone i may upgrade to"

Rep: "Ah alright, well what questions might those be?"

Me: "Well im sure you have at some point heard of the HTC Incredible and Google Nexus---"

-Interrupting-

Rep: "Yeeep"

Me: "Well anything you can tell me"

Rep: "Not really"

Anyway, banter continued for a little while but i eventually said " You see, we both know Verizon has to release SOMETHING SOMETIME soon. You guys are falling behind the pack to be honest"

His interesting response (paraphrased) was:

"Look i cant just give out information on those phones, obviously. The bottom line is that First and Foremost We dont give information out on items that arent available to be purchased yet"

me: Yet?

Rep: "You are right, there are new phones in the works, including a Storm 3, and other smartphone HTC products. But until they are available to be purchased, there isnt much i can say"

Me: But there is something in the works, possibly close at hand?

Rep: Oh Yeah.

yeah amen. I'l be sure to post some further info later tomorrow night, i plan on grunging around and making a few more calls to my friends who work in 2 or 3 stores.

also, just came across this on the VZW forums. Not exactly confirmed, and it was probably seen by most here before now, but as it was not posted on April 1st, and at least has held up to a bit of questioning on the thread, this is what was posted:

So I was in the Verizon store today, and a buddy who works there showed me they just got the Incredible in to start testing. Thing looks awesome, and was super fast. All he could tell me about a release date was within 2 weeks, since he himself didn't know - but said when they get the device to play with they usually start selling within 2 weeks of it.

Returned Droid for it. Goodbye Nexus One, this phone looks way better.

at least we konw its on our way. But i still can not decide if i should buy the incredible or wait for the nexus 1?

Rep: Oh Yeah.

This is nothing that we didn't already know...
It's not just "in the works" - the damn things are DONE.

Don't mean to hijack your thread but I talked to a rep a few minutes ago and take it for what it's worth. She said the Incredible and Nexus one will be announced as soon as they have a firm release date even if it 2 months out they will list it as coming soon. I asked her if was at least a couple of months out and she said "yes I would say it is" but she couldn't say for sure. I also asked if the Nexus one would be offered in stores and she said it would not, it would be purchased from google. When asked on the NE2 for the Nexus she said it would not qualify due to Verizon not having control over sale of the phone and that it will have a sale price when released but that was the price, take it or leave it. She did acknowledge that they were both coming though.

I would take that info with a huge grain of salt. I have no doubt the Nexus One will be out within the month, as well as the incredible. I have begun to suspect 99.99% of VZW reps glean their info from forums such as these, and not official verizon sources. The Incredible has been so hushed up, i believe no lower level employees have any official information.

...Just. like. the rest of us.
