So SEXTAPE has done it again, bringing us the best that there is for our EPIC 4G TOUCH phone. (BE SURE TO THANK sextape AND garwynn) at SXTP-DEVELOPERS. The FK23 modem and FK23 kernel are ready and working. Flashing FK23 kernel are modem in the FK09 JB rom seems to fix the mute bug and contacts bug. They are testing the rom now, may be ready soon? XDA Recognized Contributor rwilco12 has a thread at XDA and is great with this stuff. (BE SURE TO THANK rwilco12 and garwynn). Donate if you can, and thank them too. I have nothing to do with these builds, Im just bringing it to where I got the info to root my E4GT, good people here, guyphs is the man. Flash away and enjoy

Yeah it's here. I am on it currently and can confirm that the mute bug does seem to be gone.

First thing I tested was the mute bug. I immediately called my bank which has an automated message and if you wait long enough it will ask you to "speak" the numbers and words, so I went thru the menu and spoke my preference English (one) then it asked for my card number so I spoke my 16 digit number. I tested this twice and it would seem the mute bug is gone.

I'm leaving it on for today and I'll mess with things at work as I have quite a bit of down time normally.

I can confirm it's working and so far I can't see any bugs.
The contact picture bug is fixed in the rom, the new modem fixed the mute bug, so both are fixed with this new rom and I have tested both (was my first test)
Everything seems smoother and nice and clean it seems, but for those that are fairly new to this, it does have sprint bloat and sprint logo's at boot and shutdown, so if you are annoyed or in any way at the fact it says sprint and not boost, then you are now forewarned :). The rom is NOT, I repeat, "NOT" rooted, a rooted rom is in the works, but you CAN retain root by using mobile odin, and injecting superuser and flashing this rom.

Thanks for confirming alpha2k, there is a deodexed, rooted, modem included with busybox and extended toggles version that Dan at XDA has dropped. These guys are mad fast with mods and such. Please thank Dan, rwilco12 and garwynn these guys work real hard at hookin us up. Also if you can donate to them and stop by team sxtp- developers and do the same....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018592&page=23....... bottom of page Dan

Np. Glad I could help and pass on info.
Just a little more info sextape crew and others are no longer going to support this device. This is the last update you will see more than likely for this phone unless someone else decides to pick out up. This update should hold people for awhile though.
Maybe this is the end of cycle. ..... dunno.

I read that too, I think with the new wave of Boost Mobile and virgin people, someone will pick up the slack. Its like the SGS2 is getting a second life. If enuff of us donate they may keep going. I think the bigger problem is if "that fruit co" the one that starts with an "A" keeps pressuring Samsung this phone may get Banned completely. Its banned from being sold in Denmark until a judgement is made. I also read Samsung is pushing these JB updates out fast cuz the injunction is for GB and ICS. Im just getting here I hope it keeps going, all the ICS rom devs have a new OS, "JB" to build new roms so we"ll be busy flashing for the next year

i cant even get calls on this build for some reason it goes straight to vm

I'de say flash it again, maybe try from scratch.

I am looking forward to this rom as long as I can stay rooted (I have lots of apps that use it)

Codegerm

Yeah root stays only one way I know of personally, as I did it this way and have root.

Steps I did and worked.
I started from a fresh install of stock FI22 rom. I did not do agats kernel I went directly to FK09 root which is located here: Rwilco12's Android Repository (SPH-D710_FK09_499068_Rooted_Restore.exe)

After that I did the following:

-Download the tar file from here: Rwilco12's Android Repository (CODE_SPH-D710.FK23_549262_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5.7z)
-Use Mobile odin. If you don't have it it's on google play store (it's paid so you may have to invest a few dollars, but it's worth it if your like me and are a flash whore :) )
-Open odin mobile
-Open the rom file (tar file) using "Open file" slot, should have or say "Open File or archive .tar .tar.md5, and separate files supported"
-Once you have picked the file and it loads the necessary slots when you load the file, leave everything as it is and scroll down to the bottom part and you'll see everroot section, make sure at least the first 2 spots are check marked, the 3rd spot is totally up to you, it won't affect root at all. I personally chose to leave it checked, because I use odin
smile.gif
, but that's up to you.
-once you have all that done, check mark both clear slots, it should be dalvik and cache, then one spot down it says flash, click that.

Once this is done it will do it's thing, IE: reboot to recovery, flash, clear, etc.... just let it do what it does and wait for a reboot of the phone and you will be rooted.

This way I can confirm working as it's the way I chose to do it, but there is another way, I am not sure works or not, but they say it does and that is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34297546 - [How To] Root FK23

well mine mms is not working not sure why, because everyone else says thiers works. I send a pic and it "says" it got sent, but the person on the other side doesn't receive anything, no text, no pic, no anything, so I dunno what the deal is.
All the rest works really well.

Just noticed somthing.....my baseband says it's still fk09, so that may be the cause. Just to make sure, what does your phones "about device say, does it say fk23 all the way down??

Update:
Ok I flashed the modem and baseband now says FK23, but still no sending of a pic, so I may be redoing again....what a pain. Oh the things we go thru for satisfaction LOL.

Yeah I did this earlier, just was looking for "apn" or something similar, and found out it was named something totally different....took me about 5 mins to finally stumble on it. At first I did the other one, the messenging links, then found this one and changed the other one back.
Gonna have ta remember this fix, in case I have mms issues again.

Also had to call boost mobile for the msl number.
I'm guessing it's the same for all boost phones? or is this number just for boost s2 phones or is it specific per phone?
