Root [AT&T] Got my note today! No multi view yet?

I hate to be pessimistic but I doubt AT&T will deliver the OTA update for the missing Multiview / MultiWindow anytime soon.

I started an inquiry thread on the AT&T Android Forum weeks ago. Never get a direct response.

The Samsung Facebook page has friendly "coming soon" replies.

But ultimately I fear AT&T will drag its heals.

For example AT&T S3 owners are STILL awaiting the promised Jelly Bean update.

They are not like Sprint or other carriers who supply swift updates only weeks after International updates arrive.

Looks like I will be seeking a third party rooted ROM , so I can finally have the same featuered phone I saw Samsung demontrate in Berlin last August.

I just left the at&t store.. The employee said a Samsung rep was there yesterday and told them that we won't get an update til January's.. That really sucks

There's a ton of other stuff to play with and things to do on your device while you wait, enjoy the new toy or if not having multi view available today makes you so upset then maybe you should just return it and avoid the needless aggravation. Good luck.

It's not just the multi view that's got me concerned.. It's some of the features that I've seen in the reviews as well as the advertisements. The only thing I noticed is the same pen gives me a preview of my photos.. Also when I pull out the pen that feature pops to let me know th pen is out.. By the way that's with touchwiz when I installed tsf shell that feature doesn't work so I just un installed it. The rep tells me I may have a defective phone but the phone on display at their store was the same way. Then he tells me that the update will improve everything.. I had the first note and loved it.. I just don't understand why the advertising shows one thing and the phone is showing me another.. Can anyone else please tell me if they are having any similar issues.. Much appreciated..

If the rumors are true, it will come with the 4.1.2 update later in December

Seems the rumors were true.

Just spoke to a rep who works directly in the presidents office for AT&T:

I filed a BBB complaint against AT&T for how they handled this whole multi-window update fiasco. Someone initially contacted me the other day, and I missed the call. They attempted to contact me, again, and I missed the call. And then another time. Finally, I was able to get them just about five minutes ago. They told me they worked in the presidents office at AT&T. He wanted to inform me the update for multi-windows was, in fact, out as of the 27th. I told him I was aware and had updated.

I took the liberty to inform him of the issues a lot of you all were having. I told him that I had to do the date change trick to force an update. I told him there were many people posting online, of having to wait crazy amounts of times (like 2,800 hours) before being able to successfully check for an update. He gave me the usual mantra of appreciating my feedback, and he'd give it to the folks in-charge of the software development and the people in-charge or rolling out the update. He also told me the reason why it took so long for AT&T to release the update (and he was quite aware AT&T took the longest of all the carriers) was because they do extensive testing to make sure things like multi-window will be compatible with their network and whatever else. So, take that as you will. I know another rep from retentions told me the exact same thing. I don't necessarily think they're lying about that, but I'm sure there's some underlying things we are not privy to.

At any rate, I also asked him how the update was released so I can pass the information along to people on sites like XDA and others. I wanted to know was the update a staggered release or should it have been available to everyone at once? He told me that from what he was told, the update was INITIALLY staggered, but as of right now, EVERYONE should be able to update to 4.1.2. So, there you have it. From the sheep's mouth. I hope this information is helpful for someone. I will post this on a few other websites I'm following pertaining to this same issue.
