No wi-fi only version in US?

The ATT web site finally has the Galaxy Camera listed as a product today (though it is kind of hard to find), and if you add it to your shopping cart, you immediately get taken to another page where you can add your data plan. If there is a way to buy it with no data plan for wi-fi only usage I can't find it, and the ATT "contact us" web page is absolutely horrid, with a bunch of predefined subjects you have to pick, none of which are "Can I just ask you a frigging question about this product?"

You must have been lucky to run into an employee who didn't know the rules :). I just checked the only AT&T store in South Florida that has one in stock, and they won't sell it without a data plan.

A new AT&T store in the area got some in stock and I ws able to buy one from them without a data plan (though the staff had to huddle for about 1/2 hour to decide I could do that :). I did notice that according to the AT&T web site you can early terminate a data plan within 14 days and there are no termination fees. Maybe they decided it was simpler to sell me the thing than to go through the data plan termination hassle.

It is charging now, so I won't be able to play with it for a few hours (it does work when charging, but the cable is only about 2 feet long which puts a crimp in doing anything with it :).

It took two tries for me to find an AT&T store that would sell me one without a data plan. I have no idea what AT&T's official position is (but the fact that the web site won't let you order one online without a data plan may give a hint). Even the in the store that finally sold me one, the entire staff had to huddle up for 20 minutes to decide it was possible :).

How have you been liking/disliking it?

Well, mostly I got it for software development, not as an actual camera, but what I have played around with seems pretty nice. I like the slow motion movie mode. If I had just wanted it for a camera, I suspect I'd consider the price too steep. I have written up my comparison of the Samsung and Nikon android cameras here: Samsung/Nikon comparison

VERY NICE write-up. I'm in the market for a new camera. Mine developed the "I don't know who dropped it!" Originally I wanted the Samsung; now I'm not so sure. I don't use cameras often and when I need one quick I resort to my phone which takes great pics.

Oh...forgot to add, the "slow motion curly tailed lizard" opens to a blank page.

I see the lizard. Not sure why it didn't open before.
