Root Cyanogen 5.0.5.6 with bekit 1ghz running very hot

Is this a bad combination? I'm constantly at 40 degrees. If not there, usually upper 30s. I'm hearing people are often in low 20s with their ROMs.

What's the deal? I don't even play games that much, nor do I browse intense websites.

Would you suggest a different kernel?

40s is nothing.

There are hundreds of threads discussing cpu/battery temperatures. Do some poking around.

40s is fine. If you see a big drop in battery life, force closes, then I would be concerned. Other kernels (only way to tell is by trial and error) might drop you a few degrees but from what you stated you have nothing to worry about.
