But it's not even responsive. Whenever I talk to someone on AIM, when they reply it comes up as my SN. Meaning I could be talking to 4 different people at once, and each time they reply all of the IMs come from my SN making the whole experience rather confusing. Not to mention it randomly disconnects me and so does MSN. I hope something is released in the app store to make up for this. =[

I just got this phone on the 21st and honestly don't use im services that much, mostly just text, so I couldn't tell you if its a network or a phone problem. Ill try the ims and get back.to this post when I do.
However, a new app just got released for android today made by skype (I think its called iskoot), I've used that and it seems to work great.

Yeah, I'm with you on this - it's one of the main things I'm pulling for. Especially coming from a sidekick where the IM app was over data and running real time. I hope hope hope someone creates an IM app soon. The only one that works good is google talk. About the SN issue - that's happening to me too and sucks! I heard its a known issue tho, so at least hopefully that'll be fixed soon!

Luickily for me when i do actually get the phone...I do not plan to use the AIM/MSN/Yahoo Functions. I primarily will use the internet, SMS, phone and calendar features.

I have the same problem and I don't know why some phones are having it and not others. My best friend has a G1 too and his works perfectly, which I think is messed up because he doesn't even use it. I guess I've also been spoiled on the sidekick instant messaging ability. Granted the G1 does more than the sidekick lx, but I want it to be able to do all the things the LX did just as well as the LX did them. If you gone do it, do it right.

Yeah, I've heard it from several other users as well. I'll have to agree with you there. The only thing I really miss about the sidekick is it's amazing messaging abilities. =[
