Help Bottom writing pad pop when S Pen is used

Can you look at this video (at 1:27) on handwriting gesture and tell me how the bottom half black screen comes up? I cannot get mine to come up.

On the stock keyboard in the bottom left corner next to Sym, there will be a little button with a T and a spen picture next to it.

Well, that is part of the answer. I want the writing pad, not the keyboard.

The answer is:

Settings -> Language and input -> Samsung keyboard settings

Check the "pen detection" option to "display handwriting pad when pen is detected."
