Other phones flashable to boost?

Looking for a list or suggestions on android phones flashable to boost. I find some droid 2's for sale for $80 online locally. I dont wanna buy them if I cant flash them.

boost no, straight talk yes.

the droid 2 is a gsm phone so you will need to find a carrier that is gsm. boost use cdma technology so that will not work with a droid 2.

ahhhh i assumed it was a android phone.

i can go st too. either one works just as bad at my house, lol.

im looking for a larger screened phone, faster, and just a general step up from the prevail. well, maybe 5-6 steps lol

well yes it is an android phone. but right now there is two different techs as far as phones go. at&t, t-mobile, straight talk are all gsm phones. They have sim cards. while verizon and sprint are cdma phones. it has to do with what technology the radios are using. if you have a phone that is built for cdma then you have use those carriers and vice versa.

No, you're wrong. The Droid brand is Verizon's flagship brand and Verizon is a cdma carrier. So the Droid 2 is a cdma phone. You can confirm this here: Motorola DROID 2 specs

You should check around for better devices. Something like an Evo 3D doesn't sell for too much more and would blow a Droid 2 away. Or look for something good that has been flashed over to Boost before so you have tutorials and steps confirmed by other people.

Straight Talk also operates on the Sprint network like Boost. It's Straight talk's bring your own device program that uses the gsm network of AT&T and T-mobile.

OK. I thought gsm was the old style phones. Like the flip phones n such. Arent all android cdma?

Im in an area thats heavily covered by verizon. Sprint blows in Northern Michigan. We are about 2 miles from the e-way and on the fringes of coverage.

So, to narrow my search, im lookin for a phone flashable to boost, and can run the verizon towers. I know the marqee is an option also for that reason alone.

yes the dorid 2 is cdma....i think i looked at the global version (droid milestone2?)

Impossible. Boost runs on the native Sprint network. So there is no roaming. No Verizon. You'll have to find a Verizon prepaid MVNO or go to Verizon if you want the Verizon network. You cannot have both.

If Sprint, AT&T, and T-mobile don't work well in your area then also stay away from Straight Talk. That large green coverage map they put over their display phones is for the "dumb" phones that operate on the Verizon network. Straight Talk is a sister company of TracFone, Net10, and the likes. So their "dumb" phones work the same.

Also I believe the Prevail just all-around sucks. My Evo Design gets much better signal than it ever did. But if Sprint really sucks in your area then you should find another provider. Because Boost, Virgin mobile, part of Straight Talk & Net10, and any other MVNO that runs on Sprint will have the same signal.

First off, good news, I got root! followed guide at HTC Evo Hacks! - Best HTC Evo 4G, Evo 3D, Evo 4G LTE Hacks. video as well as written guide (I suggest u read along as he can be hard to hear at times) with files etc etc as u need them. (BTW, tons and tons of good info there)


I was reading that guide, and was wondering.... Theres 2 files i think, that ya need. They are for step 5a and 5b. One link downloads some ilivid file manger dealio... Have no clue what it is but it dont look like something i need. I was gonna go that way but I cant seem to get them files in the tut.

If anyone has the files needed to flash to boost in that tut, Id like to have them.

Also, Im using a prevail as a donor. Do I need to do any special steps? I know it can be used, see alot of folks saying they did it with a prevail. But no one posts if its different than the rant/incognito.

Your answer has been posted in the right thread. I'd suggest you go over there and check things out. One piece of advice while we're here. Stay away from fancy roms at the moment. Once the flash is done you can try out different ones. Get a good, stable Sense rom with EPST and make it your friend.

I currently have Slim rom (unofficial) on my device. I have an Evo 3d too... with a (gasp!) Prevail donor!

Ill have to go look to be sure but im almost positive the marque is either flashable to verizon or will "roam" on verizon. I forget te details cuz I never really investigated it to far.

Since this post, I have loved havin my HTC Evo3d flashed to boost, with some much appreciated help. Flashing Roms is tricky at first, but got that down to a semi-fine art now. Running Inbreded Rom 5.4 now. Had to flash it with the Anthrax kernel, then flashed Buttered toast for the overclock. Running like silk...
