Help See further in future on default calendar widget?

I have a default calendar widget on my home screen, which shows upcoming events.
Only thing is it only shows <1 week in advance.
I can't see a way to change it. Can it be done?

I know there are other calendars out there I could install, but it would make sense to have some control of the one already there. Otherwise it's plenty enough for my needs.

My Gnex is running jelly bean 4.1.something

Not that I know of. Seems that the default is 7 days (today + 6). I don't think there's any settings you can change. Like you said, there are other options out there....lots of them. Two I've used are Smooth Calendar and Calendar widget.

that's poor really. such a simple thing to include without needing another 3rd party install.

Well, I think that as a widget its really designed to give you a limited view of things. It would be counterproductive to have a widget that contained the full functionality of an app. For me, a week is enough and one click on the widget to bring up the full calendar isn't a hassle. If you really need more than a week you'll have to go custom.

I don't see why it should be limited. When I had several events in a week, the 2x2 widget was scrolling down to show all. Ideal. If I want to do stuff, then sure, tap the widget and pull up the calendar. But being able to see things like birthdays, trips etc further into future, arriving on home screen without going looking for them, doesn't seem much to ask. Why build in unnecessary limits?

I don't know, but if I had to guess I would think it would be that the more data a widget has to access or cache, the more resources the widget would need/use. I assume they had to pick a limit of some number of days or running a widget that has unlimited access to an infinite calendar might be a drain on the device. I think 7 days was a reasonable choice for a widget.

Just an un-technical guess from someone with no coding/programming experience.
