Root Skiping a step

I suggest installing the OTA update right after doing the HTC unlock and there will be no need to do the "fix everything" thread since you will already be on the current firmware. You might want to flash a different hboot after gaining S-OFF if you are planning to use GB and/or AOSP based ROM's.

Edit: I just realized you linked the "new" fix everything thread and that will work but the only things you need to update after gaining S-OFF are the hboot and recovery so it's up to you if want to flash those separately or as part of the all-in-one file.

Well, wont the Fix everything PMG zip fix hboot so I can use CM10 - Since he has everything in one ZIP that feels easier ...

Yes. See the edit to my previous post.

If you use the all-in-one file from the new "fix everything" thread you can also skip the OTA since that firmware version is included.

Just to confirm I should S-OFF before flashing the TWRP recovery right .
Basically S-OFF needs everything stock BUT HTC Unlocked .

I'm feeling pretty bold since I'm going to buy the phone for 100$( if its actually out of stock , i'll just get a Nexus 4 16GB- going to try to save money first since I just want 4G )

Yes.

If you use the TWRP version of the all-in-one file from the new "fix everything" thread, the recovery, hboot and firmware are all included so that's all you need to flash after gaining S-OFF and you will be ready for most custom ROM's.

Also, the wire trick will return the bootloader to the "locked" status but you don't need to unlock it again since the JBear hboot will allow the fastboot commands that require an unlocked stock hboot.

OK , thinking out loud , why does the wire-trick even need HTC Unlock ?

I'm going to do it the way I mentioned above
HTC Unlock( let the phone reboot) , S-OFF ( let the phone turn on again ), and finally flash TWRP , All in one , CM and GAPPS THEN reboot !

AND if all goes wrong I can RUU back to stock( found a coupon , should be able to get the phone for 90$ , so even if it burst into flames its not that big of a deal .)

The wire trick needs HTC unlock to allow it access to partition(s) it would not be able to update without an unlocked bootloader. That's about as specific as I can get and doubt that you'll get even that much from the unlimited.io staff. ;)

There's no need to flash the TWRP recovery separately since it's included in the AIO file, but it won't hurt anything either. The version in the AIO file might not be the most current so if you flash it separately I suggest doing that after the AIO file.

So would I flash the all in one zip from ADB ?

Ohh - I'm mixing up the bootloader with recovery .

SO in the bootloader flash the AIO , then let reboot( I'm assuming the phone still can boot into stock ?)

Then boot to the bootloader again , select recovery , and finally flash the rom and gapps

I'm coming from a triumph by the way

That's pretty much it. The instructions in the new "fix everything" thread pretty much cover that part.

It's also a good idea to format all partitions except the SD card before flashing the ROM and gapps.
