Galaxy S4 and Airplay

Two things have recently happened:

1. I purchased a new amplifier that works with Airplay.

2. I changed my Iphone 4 to a Samsung Galaxy S4.

Airplay works very well with the Iphone, but I'm having real problems getting it to work with my S4.

The standard music player that comes with the S4 (just called 'Music') is compatible with Airplay, but it will only play the one song that the phone came preloaded with, called 'Over the Horizon' via Airplay.

I've copied all my itunes songs over to my new phone, but when I want to play any of these songs via Airplay, it comes up and says 'unable to play'.

I'm completely lost as to why it will play the song that came preloaded on the S4, but not the songs I copy over? They will play from the phone absolutely fine, both with and without head-phones, but just not via Airplay.

Anyone has any ideas?

Welcome to the Forums:)

As far as your issue is concerned I'm just wondering if airplay needs the drm rights to play your iTune songs. You said the default song that came with the S4 plays fine so that only leaves that airplay reconizes the iTunes header and can't find the drm content file with it. Something the Music Player on the S4 is ignoring itself

If that is the case, can I sort that somehow? I think I've rooted my phone if that helps.

I'm not sure if there is a way to sort it out or not. I've personally never owned and "i" anything nor have I ever used iTunes. Personally I rip all my own stuff and I've never had a problem. I also use Google Play Music for all my music it syncs with all my devices and just works. However I am not sure if it is compatible with AirPlay

Not sure what you mean by that question?

I'm playing songs via the standard 'Music' Player.

Have tried purchasing a song from Amazon, which works. This does indicate to me that it is an Itunes song specific problem. Would still like to solve it though, as I don't feel like replacing all the songs I've purchased once already.

Having now got it to work with a song, I've discovered a second Airplay issue. When I click Pause on a song, it carries on playing via Airplay for another couple of minutes. Is this just a settings issue somewhere?

Check out Streambels, I just dowloaded it. It's the only app I've found so far that's free and works to stream audio to an Airport Express. It apparently does other things with video and photos too, but I haven't investigated. Takes all your music and playlists from other programs so it's pretty quick to get set up.
