Help S3 and Whatsapp compatibility

Tried installing whatsapp on S3, but it says Alert: Tablet is not supported?

Pulled battery, reinstalling, redownloading then reinstalling all did not solved the problem.

What else could I try?

A bit more info would be helpful.
What version of firmware, any custom roms? Perhaps your provider is cock blocking the app, what telco are with? do you have a SIM in your phone?
Did you try to restart the device after removing the app?
Did you "wipe data partition" after removing and before re-installing the app?

How did you try installing? From the playstore or from the website? If one doesn't work then try to other. There shouldn't be any problems installing and I'm wondering why yours notes "tablet".

From both Play Store and WhatsApp site.

Very baffling that it is detecting S3 as a tablet...

I'm a tech-noob, and this is my very first non-dumb phone. I am not able to answer on the firmware and roms.

Shouldn't be the provider problem, as the alert message indicate that the software is detecting my S3 as a tablet. I do have a SIM in my phone.

Didn't restart device upon removing; I will try that when I am home.

I don't even know what "Wipe data partition" is, so its a no. I'll try that too if I can figure out how to do so.
