[VIRGIN MOBILE] I just added insurance to my S3

I had to call them to verify the deductible as it's not specifically mentioned. It took the guy about 15 minutes and several trips back to the phone to tell me he's still looking for the answer...when he finally told me it's $100 like any top tier phone (iPhones excluded as they go through apple care)

So for just $5/mo, my $400 phone is protected with a $100 deductible. That's not as good as Black Tie protection...but a lot better than Verizon's insurance which is close to $9/mo or Sprtint's which is $7/mo...and I believe their deductibles are $150 unless that's changed.

I'll probably only need it for a year...as I plan to get the S4 once released :D But then, that will need insurance too...and so on, so forth.

I can't believe they want the same $5/mo and $100 deductible for a $150 EVO V...lol. Who would pay that?

i had the insurance on my evo after i dropped my triumph in the toilet....but then i realized the best insurance is just being careful! obviously that can't account for everything, though, but i hate the idea of paying insurance hahaha.

I guess it's relative. What did you pay for the evo? I'd have probably insured it too if it cost me $300, but once they dropped the price to $150... I'd have dropped the insurance on it. You shouldn't have a $100 deductible on a phone that costs $150 New.

My wife dropped hers about 2 hours after getting it and broke the screen. I tried the $20 glass replacement from ebay but ended up breaking the digitizer on the last inch of removing the broken glass. I guess I didnt have it hot enough. Ended up replacing the whole screen for $160 on ebay. I learned a lot about the phone and now know how to work on it if something else goes wrong.

My brother works at Best Buy so I get employee discount on the phone I wind up buying and a nearly-free 2yr service plan that covers everything. and in the case of my Evo V being at the end-of-life; I get what-I-paid for the Evo V back, and towards a new phone.

Pretty much going to run over my Evo V with my car, bring it in, put the 300$ credit towards the SGS3 (which only costs my brother 350$~) & slap a new 2yr service plan on it. :D

i payed the 300 for it. i put insurance on it at first when i was paranoid after dropping the triumph in the toilet...i was so paranoid haha. i loved that triumph so much :(...even more than i love my SGS3. but that's only because of this goddamn stock rom, i need CM for god's sake hahaha

That's not going to cover damage, loss, or theft.
True, but so far I have not had much need for it. I once dropped a phone in a toilet, and once left one on a bus (ended up getting it back, but it was the worst feeling), but I try to be really careful about not losing my phone and keeping it away from damage. Of course, no one plans for any of those things to happen, but to me, insurance isn't worth it, after what I'd be paying and a deductible. I'd rather take the risk and then if something happens, buy one on eBay.

I don't want to be the buzkill ,but VM gives you a year of insurance for free when you buy a new phone. I think. It did it to mine
