i know similar posts are around for other android devices. but, i have to ask, what is the purpose of expandable memory up to 32g if you can't utilize that space to run apps off of? that is the only thing i like about my wm device now. so, is there a way around this? a patch? hack? program?

You can run apps off the SD card, but I believe it requires root access and Apps2SD.

I have not heard of anyone rooting a Sprint Hero, but I suspect its just a matter of time.

Right now, I think the only things the SD card is good for is music, pictures and video storage.

Probably the reason Android was designed to not have apps run from the SD card was for:

1) Speed. I/O from the card is slower than internal memory.

2) Can remove the SD card. What do you do if the app is running and has open forms/files/etc.? I naive user might get upset about losing data doing something like removing the card while the app is still running.

So it is easier from Android's side to avoid these issues by not allowing it by default. Hopefully if a user is skilled enough to root their phone they are wise enough not to remove the card with a running app on it.

OK this is getting crazy. Two issues are 1) I have some SDcard storage apps. None that allows my phone to transfer any apps or anything at all to use for storage. Internal memory is almost full.2) Can't mount it either.
Also after purchasing rooting apps and backup apps, none that that work because I'm told my phone isn't rooted. No matter who or what approach I follow to root are all been unsuccessful. This makes it appear this is not getting the full use of my phone. Which sucks. Am I supposed to just except this as and forget that my Samsung Captivate is just a dog? Anyone out there can help? Sure would like to know.
