Accessing my e-mail

I hope this is the right forum.
I have a brand-new Galaxy Note 2.
I mostly access my e-mail on my home computer, but it would be great if I could access it also from my phone, expecially when I am in a wait mode somewhere away from the house.

My provider is Time Warner Cable. At home I use Outlook via SMTP and POP3.

Easy to do. First thing is to change your outlook at home to IMAP instead of POP3, that way you can keep your phone and computer in sync. Just run through the stock email setup steps on your phone, choosing IMAP again, and it will sync up just fine.

If you use POP, it moves the mail from the server to your computer by default and mail that has been moved to your computer won't be available on your phone.

He can use POP3 and still get mail seen on the PC on the phone. In the PC email incoming server settings, configure it to leave mail on the server for X days (however long is appropriate). Email will be there for re-downloading.

True, but maintaining the 2 devices in sync is a pain. It also won't allow him to keep a particular email on both devices for X+1 days without manual manipulation.

Another option is to have gmail poll the Time Warner account and deliver it to his gmail account on the phone. No changes to Outlook. There is a chance of mail being delivered to TW and outlook popping it off before gmail polls, but with the leave mail on server set that shouldn't happen. But again, duplicate work managing the inbox.

There are probably other ways to do this, these are just the ones I've used. By far IMAP is the easiest for me.
