Root [Virgin Mobile] VM S3 to Sprint S3 Fix Everything Mod [Request]

Okay so since most of us are coming from the Evo V you'll already know what I mean by this. For those of you who do not know what this is allow me to explain. There is a method to take the Virgin Mobile Evo V and essentially change the radios to that of the Sprint equivalent Evo 3D making it run on Sprint's Radios. In simple terms it makes the phone have better signal receptions and allows the flashing of Sprint-Based ROMs without complications such as data not working because the phone is "running" on Sprint. My request is that a Dev should do the same with the S3 (if it is possible) so that we would have better data connection and can flash Sprint S3 ROMs without issues; a VM S3 to Sprint S3 Fix Everything Mod :D

Edit: There are also methods to disable Throttling (Soft Data Caps) and add network hacks if anyone knows how to do this it is also appreciated. Like a flashable zip of this http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/1...riers-data-throttling-on-your-android-device/ there is a folder under data/system/data/-> called /throttle/ and I'm wondering if deleting would do anything?

this has been done already, though not under the "fix everything" title like LeslieAnn's original post. see my thread on flashing cm10.1: http://androidforums.com/virgin-mobile-galaxy-s3-all-things-root/736505-tutorial-cm10-1-vm-gs3.html

i can rewrite this as a "fix everything" tutorial - that might make things a bit easier - but basically what you're asking for, if i understand correctly, is the ability to go to Sprint's firmware while still connecting to the VM network, and that's exactly what my tutorial is about. instead of flashing cm10.1 in the end, though, just flash any other sprint rom.

Thanks for the response and does that enhance the connection like LeslieAnn's?

Edit: I skimmed through your post and it seems similar and BTW I have TWRP not CWM and I believe that may cause issues too. But I still don't understand it.

it shouldn't enhance your connection. what happened in LeslieAnn's fix was we updated radios like you said...but i'm not sure whether there are better radios to update to on our phones.

honestly i'm a bit out of my depth here, but i do know that by switching to md4 firmware and applying an MMS fix (which i'm about to include in the tutorial) you should be able to use some (most?) Sprint ROMs.

So essentially it changes the radios so they work with the Sprint ROMs? Also you may want to look into LeslieAnn's because that's what I thought but I could be wrong. And is it compatible with TWRP and Stock?

it actually changes everything BUT the radios. what stops the Sprint ROMs from working are other parts of software on the phone, not the radios. and i can't say confidently that it'll work with either of those, but i don't see why it'd be a problem.

be aware though that like i said this won't improve your reception or anything - it's only meant for installing Sprint ROMs (and i can only vouch for CM10.1 working with this.) so if you wanna stay on stock, don't mess around with it, because there's no point.

Gotcha thanks. For now I'm just sticking to stock :D. I hope someone does look into this though. I had one more question though how do you disable throttling and add network hacks? Some Evo V ROMs had those. Like there is a folder under data/system/data/-> called /throttle/ and I'm wondering if deleting would do anything?

I don't know anything about that, sorry...surely more stuff will come up in the coming weeks, though! The development for this phone is just picking up. :)

When they can, they will (and not because you asked, lol) . CWM shouldn't be different than TWRP. Rom specific questions are not applicable, as there are no roms for virgin yet.

Right now I would consider everything at your own risk, making requests is premature as there isn't even a solid development scene yet...

I know when there's a solid Dev team there will be more stuff coming out. I just wanted to brings these things to any Dev's attention so they can consider doing them :D
