Don't think I'll be going anywhere near the 4.3 builds yet. Took 4.2.2 a while to become stable so I imagine the first lot of releases shall be a mess.

Has anyone noticed that every CM thread for the S3 has the installation guide in the wrong order?

- Copy GApps and CM10.2 ZIPs to your SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM10.2 zip from SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from SDCard
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot)
- Reboot

Surely if you flash the ROM & gapps and then wipe data, the phone won't boot It's been like this since CM9

That should be fine doing it that way as long as you only factory reset/wipe data and clear your caches. I'm assuming that the gapps.zip installs the gapps as system apps so they wouldn't get wiped. However personally I'd do the wipes first as I also format system which erases the ROM as well.

Yeah people are sayin its important to do the wipe AFTER flashing this one
Doubt ill try the rom unless im really bored lol. As Yatesy says, itl be crawling with bugs. Il let the flashaholics tell me how it runs. 4.3 doesnt interest me much tbh

Just a warning - I've heard of a lot of people having trouble with root access on 4.3 as Google have changed something in the code. Can't remember exactly what it is though apparently you have to re flash super su from recovery. Once I get on my computer I'll find a link

In the meantime, the way root is achieved in Android 4.3 is different than in previous versions of Android. Koushik Dutta and Chainfire are working hard to permit root in some way on 4.3. Chainfire’s SuperSU carefully works around the new restrictions Google put in place, but initially caused CPU spikes that would consume 100% of your CPU — obviously not a good thing. Chainfire fixed that bug in version 1.43, but it’s still a work-around more than a solution to the changes in Android 4.3.

I was having a read through the CM threads on XDA, and most people on there seem to be fine with 4.3 so far. I think on the first nightly there was no root at all but that's been sorted now. At the moment the issues seem to be the camera not working properly and external sd not working properly. Everything else looks like its usuable. YMMV though

Arr im having problems on tonights attempt lol. I tried using PA's 4.3 gapps package (which aparently should work) as well as a zip someone gave me to keep root on 10.2. Got a lot further and gmail works fine but when i go to Play to download TiBu it finds it but Play crashes as soon as i hit "install".
Any ideas peeps? :beer:

You could restore your working setup, Get TB to create a flashable zip of itself that can be flashed from your SD in recovery. Flash the new rom and flash TB and you should be set up to restore all your apps. Hopefully.

So the zip worked..... unfortunately Ext Sd doesnt lol. I officially give up until we get some nightlys. Its far too buggy yet

Just downloaded someones build of 10.2 with aparently a few things fixed. only took over THREE HOURS!! lol anyone having issues with 3 Network the past few days?
Anyway the wife is watchin netflix on the Wii (tethered to me) so i cant try it yet but il report back when im off duty :beer:

Hi funky. Why don't you use ES File manager and use the built-in App Manager to safe all you installed apps, then copy it to your external SD (folder is sdcard0/backups). When you need to reinstall any app simply download the ES File Manager through the Play Store and then go to the backups folder and select the app(s) you want simply tapping it one and they'll install - for multi-select jus press and hold one item and tick-boxes will appear for individual selection or 'all'. Easy, peasy.

P.S. I prefer this over TB as I never restore any app data - too many problems imo. ES does not backup app data only the apps themselves.
