Hello, i am not new to the root world, as i used to own my beloved lg Esteem, SHOUTS OUT TO THE ALL THINGS ROOT LG ESTEEM FORUM. Regardless i just obtained an HTC one from an at&t carrier and flashed it over to Metro PCS, where do i go about on the forums looking for help with rooting and other questions, as there are at least four different carriers with the HTC one?? Which one do i use?? HELLLLPPP

But its an at&t phone ON the metro service. To be exact it is the Htc one(original release, not a flagship) that is an at&t phone now with metro pcs service due to a metro pcs sim. So it is okay to mess with the rom as long as i do it through at&t and it wont screw up my service?? or ANYTHING else. I am an uber noob to the one now. it is a whole new world, i very much appreciate the quick response though man. Just trying to stop worrying and get under the hood of this power house. :)

when you go in settings / mobile data what is your Network mode and Access Point names ? this would determine what service your actually using. If I remember right Metro it now owned by Tmobile so most likely your using GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto. This is the same settings as any AT&T phone. So this would mean you can use and flash any AT&T compatible roms.

If you have a custom APN just right down the settings and apply them to any new rom you flash

No flashing a Rom won't mess with your service. First thing, get s-off and super cid your phone. This way you turn your phone into the international variant and can flash any Rom you desire from the HTC line. If you have apn trouble just use fast.t-mobile.com as your apn. Although all Roms, well all the best Roms for HTC onr have the tmo/metro apn setup already. And I sincerely hope by flash you mean you unlocked and are using a metro SIM. Because if you truly flashed the phone. You messed up. The att HTC one gets 4g/lte from tmo/metro with their SIM.

Are you still Stock ? you need to get rid of any other APN and leave only the metro one. See my link above for the correct 4g settings on metro. Is your Sim card new? are you sure it's 4g? What are you signal strength numbers ? (Settings/About/Network/RSRP: -xx).

From your phone dialer
HTC Info Menu dial *#*#4636#*#*
then choose phone information
what does it say under Set Preferred network type?

uh oh. if metro is using t mobile towers, and you are using an att variant, that could be your issue. t mobile uses an odd band(1700) for 3g/hspa+(old school 4g) traditionally,so if you are not in an area that has been refarmed for LTE your att device is not picking up that band. :(

if thats the case, you may be stuck with gprs(1g)or edge(2g) at best until your area is refarmed,at wich time you should pick up 3g/hspa+ as well as LTE if metro is providing that.

an alternate may be to just use straight talk, they are selling att based sims again. i use that at work and find the coverage to be a bit better/more stable than my t mboile service. i use an att one vx and have LTE just about everywhere i go,with a best download speed of around 23 mbps.

unfortunately, when dealing with t mobile, its most always better to use their devices.

now,if you ARE in a refarmed area, the above may be incorrect. in which case, hopefully an apn change fixes you up :)
