Hi guys,

Not sure which forum to place this is in. Had an S3 quite a while now, rooted from day one, also had my previous S2 rooted so feel pretty confident with all things root. However, tonight I flashed a ROM and noticed that annoying "0" folder, so copied it to my desktop and deleted it from my phone and proceeded to flash a ROM. Upon installing the ROM I have "Emergency calls only" so I used my nandroid back up and restored my back up which I'd just made. However, that too has emergency calls only. Just checked my IMEI and it's got the 0049 prefix. Now I have many different back ups of my efs, and have putting them back on the phone and restored to a different nandroid back up. But still I cant get it to work. Does anyone know how to use your EFS back up's to restore the EFS? And will this cure the 0049 prefix?

That 0 folder was your phone's internal Sd card. When multi user came about in 4.2 your internal memory became folder 0, I don't know what another user would have become but we'll call 1 or 2 for arguments sake.

On the efs folder thing I'm a little unsure mate, there's a few here that should be able to help you. I think flashing a stock firmware through odin can sort it out :thumb:

Silly question, how did you "put them back on the phone"? Any correct efs backup should have produced a file something like this GT-... with a .tar.gz xtension or a ... .img xtension. To restore either format you need you need the correct tool.

Here is a link to a comprehensive guide on how to backup and restore your efs partition (I am afraid you have to read through it to solve your problem, but everything you need to successfully restore your IMEI is there) - DroidViews | How to Backup and Restore EFS Data / IMEI on Samsung Galaxy Devices – Did You Do It?. I personally used efs pro, which restores image (.img) files and, as mentioned above, if you have a .tar.gz file then simply use something like WINRAR to unzip that file and you'll find the necessary .img file inside, which you can then use to restore.

Another beauty of using EFS Professional is that it includes all necessary adb functions and therefore, you don't have to install the SDK files to communicate with your device - its really simple to use.

Slim will be a huge change because theres no samsung in it. slim are good. For 4.3, slim or carbon. Just be prepared for a LOT of options and a very fast phone lol. No touchwiz, meaning no multiwindow, smart stay, that kinda crap lol. Pure android with some nice touches added plus you can add themes to change the whole phones appearance (settings menu, text input window etc) :D

Wont the 0 folder just come back itself mate?
The EFS issue... what we need is a good write-up of what it is, how to back it up, how it can be lost, how to restore it, and it needs stickied, not just in this sub forum because its happening a lot man

I can do a write up of how I got my eggs back. I got it back the first time with no efs file saved. If this is needed I can do it

Please do! If you can make it as universal (workable on all phones) as possible, im pretty sure the mods will make it a sticky in a lot of the forums :beer::beer:
Ive already requested something like this from AF and they seem to agree
