Help Thrive won't boot

My Toshiba Thrive won't boot. It was working fine one day, and the next, it started hanging up when I boot. I get past the Toshiba screen to what I call the "sunburst" screen and it just hangs there. I've tried clearing the cache, tried to restore to factory settings, pulled the battery, basically tried every fix I could find on the internet over the past 3-4 days, and nothing works. I did not install any new apps. I really do not know why it started doing this.

Obviously, I cannot back up my tablet. I used it mostly for watching Netflix, Amazon Prime, and reading ebooks on the Kindle app. While I had some other apps installed, there weren't that many that it is a huge loss. I also did not keep data on my tablet.

I have no idea what ROM was on my tablet.

I love my tablet. I really do not want to have to lay out the $$$ to buy a new one if this one can be fixed. I have never "flashed" anything, nor do I even know how to do this.

Can someone give me some direction on whether or not flashing might work to fix the problem and, if so, how do I do it?

TIA for any help you can give.

Where in her post does it say she bought it new? I'm not assuming anything, just trying to help out. Just sayin....

I did not say you were but of those two IF's that I pointed out, one she had already answered in saying she had never "Flashed" anything. If she hadn't flashed it it was highly likely it wasn't rooted unless she bought it that way, hence the second unanswered "IF".

I did buy it new and no it is not rooted. I've just used it as is from the factory. This is all new to me so please be patient with me.

I've had it two years so I am way past warranty.

At this point, I would recommend that you go to the Toshiba Thrive Forums for better support. This is where all the ROM developers for this device hang out and someone there will be able to help you recover your device with or without rooting it if it's not a hardware issue. They're very patient and very friendly and they know their stuff better than I do.

She could have bought it used and it already had been rooted.

You or I didn't know that until she answered. That's the only reason I asked.

It's all moot now since she already said she bought new. I was going to refer her to the Thrive forums anyways.
