Was Sprint Ready For The Hero?

I'm not sure that Sprint was properly ready for the Hero. Odd 9103 text messages, very laggy when fully using sense ui, skipping of music, much else can be said too. However, I think a lot of it is due to the carrier, Sprint. I hate to say it, but most of there employees didn't even know what this device was less than a week before its release. Do you think they were ready for there first android device? I don't. I think it will improve and there will be fixes for this issue, but its gotten off to rather laggy start if you ask me.

Aside from the 9103 text messages when you get a in IM from someone and the IM client isnt open anymore...

How is any of the other stuff Sprints fault? Assuming everyone else is having these problems. I have the 9103s, but not music skipping and rarely any lag. Of course, I make sure to kill off any apps running I dont need if it appears to be lagging.

Everything you said but the text messages is hardware / software related. And thats Sprints fault how exactly? Cause last time I checked, they didnt build the OS, or the handset. Nor did they create the UI.

Im all for placing blame somewhere, when there's blame to be placed. Did Sprint dropt he ball on getting their reps informed enough about the Hero? Hell yes. Is the odd messaging thing thier fault? Meh. Maybe. Is anything else you mentioned their fault? No.

I'm not sure that Sprint has much of anything to do with Sense's performance, seems to me that was under HTC's control...

Other than the messaging issues that some people have reported, I'm not sure what has gone wrong with the Hero launch, much less what can be attributed to Sprint.

Eh, just my opinion.

If Sprint was unready for the Hero, it's that they didn't have enough. I showed up 35 minutes after they opened on Sunday, and got the last one. ( of 29 ) Every Sprint store in the are sold out of them the first day. When I went back in on Tuesday to ask some questions about my Hero, ( and look for a good case ) there were people in there wanting to buy a Hero.

I've had no lag issues with mine, no missed texts, ( other than the one I tried to send and neglected to hit 'send' ) and no skipping music.

I am not getting any of the problems you describe either. No lag whatsoever. No sms errors and my music is smooth as silk. I am still getting used to Android as I came from an instinct, but that's not the phone or sprints fault. Hope you get your problems resolved, this is by far the best phone I have owned.

I'm coming from the Pre and Precentral, the Pre was nice but not fro business use, after using the Pre for a week I was bored with it, it just seems like a phone for Teens. It does a some good things but its missing quite a bit.

that's just my opinion.

I am a self labeled Technowhore, and buy every new product that comes out. With that being said, I owned the Pre, and took it back on day 28 and went back to a BlackBerry it was so bad. Having the Hero for a week now, I can assure you I will not be going back.

The ONLY 2 things I can say bad about the Hero.

1) No email aggregation.....I miss that from my BB

2) SO many options, it takes a while to setup the Hero to fit your personality, but when you do....ZOOM!

While I think Sprint was ready for an android device, I think a lot of your problems are stemming from them poorly preparing for its release, which they do with pretty much everything lol. Sprint's always one of the last to get software updates(is anyone else pissed they dont have 1.6 yet lol?), in store people are kinda useless unless they themselves own the phone, and putting too much interest in their crappy Pre, hopefully they'll jump on the Hero bandwagon like all of us xD.

Yeah, I had a sprint rep tell me I wasn't the kind of Customer Sprint needed... This transpired as he returned from lunch:

I was standing at the counter comparing my myTouch to the Sprint Hero that the other store person let me have. He immeandiate starts with the "The hero is much better than the tmo mytouch" ; I responded to his rude behavior with "I dind't ask for an unqualified opinion" (he clealy missed the point of the remark which was just as much about his failure to qualify me as it was about any thoughts he had on the hardware) ; He then starts reading off some bs review about how many stars the Hero has vs. the mytouch. You (the sprint rep) is exactly why I am no longer a sprint customer.

Anyway, I don't see much advantage to the Hero over teh myTouch except the 3.5mm jack and the 5mp camera.
