Sprint and Pogo plug offering unlimited cloud storage

Not sure if anybody knew. I have a pogoplug adaptor, that allows me to create my own storage, but just hadn't had time to set everything up (as, I'm also re-configuring my home wireless network).

$5 per month for unlimited cloud storage is actually a really good deal, but I prefer having my own cloud network with my own drives, which I can do with the pogoplug adaptor I had purchased a while back. Here is the adapter, in case anyone is interested:

$60/year doesn't sound bad for unlimited storage. But how good is Pogoplug? Have they been around for a longtime? I've heard of them in the past and I think I might even have the free account already but don't use it. If I can save all my pics from all my devices, this would be great.

The Google App store seems to have bad reviews on the app.

Yes. They have been around. They have their own device, actually, that can be connected to your own home router, which allows you to create your own home storage.

I haven't set mine up yet, due to my only recently fixing my wifi setup, but I bought one on sale for 39 in daily steals a while back.
From what I remember, it has 2 USB 2.0 ports that allows you to connect extra storage. I have two 2 TB drives ready to connect to my pogo plug device.

So with their device its basically an external hard drive or does the device connect to the cloud? How big is the storage. Trying to understand the set-up.

The thing unlimited cloud storage is separate from the pogoplug device.

The device connects through the home wifi, which can be accessed through their cloud. Likely same server they use for the unlimited cloud storage is accessed.

Difference between the two would be using their cloud vs. your own private cloud.

I might give it a try I guess I can always cancel if needed. For $5/month its not bad. I have an external hard drive with pictures that I definitely want backed up incase it crashes or anything. If that hard drive failed, I lose everything.

I think it's worth a shot. Many people raved about the pogoplug device, even prior to the Sprint offering.

After reading more reviews I'm kind of hesitant. I currently use BOX and DROPBOX and between the 2 I've had enough FREE storage to store my docs/pics/etc. I'm going to run out which is why I've been searching for an affordable cloud service or just pay to add more storage to BOX or DROPBOX. I like how the 2 clouds sync and you can add folders as needed in the cloud and you can tell the device(s) what folder to synch to. With BOX however, you can't auto-upload pics from any devices which is a downer so DROPBOX seemed to be the one to go with but their prices seem a bit high at $10/month for 100GB.

Totally makes sense. I have multiple cloud and hard drive storage areas, but I'm a little 'bit of a unique situation between work and personal needs. I am always looking for multiple ways to store files and data. In fact, I just bit the bullet and purchased a 2nd 128gb card, to use with my Note 8. Of course, price matched with Amazon, but purchased through Best Buy for points

LOL...No worries. That's what the forums are for. Sometimes brainstorming helps, when someone is stuck on finding a solution that suits them the best. Of course, it's always difficult to pinpoint exactly what someone is looking for because everyone has different needs, but I at least wanted to throw out as many ideas for you, so that you can decide from there (which would be best).

Many of my favorite apps, that I use regularly every single day, have been through different members on here posting up info about an app they found and use.

For me, what's funny is that I love to have a lot of options, even if I may not use all of them. For example, I have 3 office type apps that I got for free on Amazon App deal of the day, but also use Google's office program, as well as Microsoft Office (when it became free). I don't necessarily use all of them, so many would think it's overkill, but there have been many times where I've had to go through each one, to find the program that would open a file I needed to review for work. I'm like that with storage as well. Some might say I have an overkill amount of storage, but I'm always concerned about losing files or files getting corrupted, so I have backup drives at work, home, as well as OTG. It's a little 'bit of an OCD, but I don't care how much others might laugh at it because I'll be the one laughing when their backups go down and I have 2-3 different backup locations...hehe

Pogoplug doesn't have file provisioning...is that when you save a doc on your PC and the same file in the cloud is updated as well?
