Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] [MOD][LGSystemUi]Remove QSlide apps Deodexed v5, v6, & v7

I definitely downloaded the right one. Twice to make sure the problem wasn't during the download. I even pulled the apk from the zip and had the same problem. I did notice that the file was the same size as the v5 one which is slightly larger than the v6. Not sure if that has anything to do with it though.

The size wouldn't be an issue. Are you absolutely sure your on LS720ZV6?

So, is there any way to get rid of Qslide when using the "Odexed" stock V6 ROM? I tried running the script from from this thread, and I also tried manually installing the .apk file, but either way it did nothing. (Well, actually, it removed my entire status/notification bar on the first attempt. Then after I deleted the .odex file, it seemed to do nothing at all.)

Try this link here:

Actually I take that back. That wont work with v6. The one on this thread should of worked if you also removed the lgsystemui.odex file in the /system/app folder.

Are you sure it didn't work? Do you have the status bar?
In the status bar, there are two qslide rows. The first is the qslide icons. The second is the qslide apps. This removes the second row.

There are indeed two rows, but the first is the "QuickSettings" icons, right? I actually find those useful. It's the second row that belongs to QSlide.

But yes, I'm sure it didn't work. And I tried it again just to be sure, both by flashing the .zip from recovery and by manually replacing the LGSystemUI.apk file. I ended up with no status bar at all and a black background (no wallpaper).

Have you tried info in following link? A slightly different approach but seems to work. I have used it on both stock v5 and v6.

Believe this alternate method is linked in bottom of OP

Yeah, I tried that too. Ended up with no status bar.

HOWEVER... I poked around a little on my own and came up with something that worked! :)

1) I copied my phone's LGSystemUI.apk to my Mac.

2) I downloaded "LGSystemUI_NoQSlide.zip" from that other thread and snagged the "res/layout/floating_launcher.xml" file from the .apk file that was in that thread. (.apk files are really just ZIP files, but the .xml files contained in them are not plain text

Does anyone know if this is compatible with V7?

Full story - I upgraded via xclusive86's upgrade zip from deodexed v6 to v7 and followed all instructions without issue. (I had flashed the qslide-removal zip for v6). Somewhere along the way I lost my voicemail app and it seems the only solution is to factory reset. Now after factory reset, I have no status bar...

I think I'm just going to flash the new v7 rom xclusive86 posted at this point anyway but I'd love to know whether the qslide-removal will work.

Thanks for any help!

I have not updated this to work with the new software update v7. To be honest, I forgot about it until now. It's not a high priority right now for me. I'm getting back into working on the cm rom. I wanted a fresh start so I have allot of ground to cover.

Right now i'm focusing on compiling a working recovery and then will move on from there. It won't be of use to us as a version 6.0.3.7 because there's two newer ones posted on this forum. It's a necessary step before continuing on to a full rom. I skipped this step last time and shouldn't have.
