Root [MetroPCS] [Guide] ROOTING THE OPTIMUS F6 And Recovery!

try using root browser and head into system/app to manually remove installed apps.. or bloatware ;) Gt has a guide for this here as well if you are having problems

You can also use another guide by him on his site for the f6's memory problem here
I installed rootbrowser (and some utils it prompted me on). I went to system/app and clicked on mymetro.apk, uninstall, ok, get message Uninstall not Successful. That's it. What am I missing?

hope you guys can help me out. I'm GOOD with computers but this is my first time rooting a phone. I followed all directions and got the phone rooted and I followed all the directions for the SD card fuse (including the updated version). When I check storage I see 2 cards (internal and external) with 28.9 GB of storage. but when I try to download an ap I keep getting the insufficient storage error. what am I doing wrong?

I'm also showing dups of all my photo galleries so I assume I did something wrong?

EDIT

Just realized All my downloaded apps are not working.... and in app manager it still shows 1.27gb and its 100% full.

So i decide to give this a try n tested by dl adaway works great on b12 i am shock it works. Hopefully it dont mess up my fone. Now i need space which is why i needed root...any help.

Wonderful. I have done the whole thing and it works great. Including link2sd. I used Experion ROM and it's OK, only problem I seem to have is I liked the LG Accuweather widget that went all the way across the sceen. I can't get that to come up. I just get the single icon. Any suggestions?

I Remember someone saying that the lg widgets only work on the stock lg home launcher

Thanks for the easy method of rooting.

Just a vote of confidence here for any of you who like me fret about doing such things. (It's because I don't know what I'm doing)

My head was spinning after reading stories of success and failure with different methods. The related XDA thread is overwhelming. After I got started it took only a few minutes.

As of today 15Aug, 2014 the links on the first post took me to Towelroot v3. Google Chrome on my PC warned me of some vague danger about Towelroot but let me download it. You may be prompted while installing towelroot to go to settings to permit a non playstore installation.

After installing SuperSU I allowed it to update itself.

I'm getting long winded, in other words, just follow the instructions on the first post. It was the easiest rooting I've done.

It's definitely easy, but I still seem to be having storage issues. I guess you haven't?

sperri40,

It's only the second day since rooting and it's my son's phone but it seems to be working fine. He did try to install some enormous app of about 1gb and was unable to do so, I think he got an insufficient storage notification with that. Other apps installed without issue. I think he'll need to learn the ways of ADB and push the app to the storage card from a PC if he wants to install something that big on this phone.

I'm not sure what storage issues you're having but if you have plenty of space and get the "insufficient storage" notification for some apps I've had luck with the very simple app InsuFixer. His GooglePlay page explains how to manually do what the app does if you prefer that method.

Like many others he used Link2SD to move some apps to an ext4 partition on the removable SD card.

Good luck.

Guessing you didn't use the smanager script?

Thanks for the tip, but I just installed/ ran the app and got this message:

Hmmm...no folders in /data/app-lib. Something isn't right.

So obviously I messed up something! Haha...

I just installed link2sd (something I had not done previously), as per your last post. Are there any apps I DON'T want to move or can I move everything to my SD card.

And yes, I am clearly clueless with this.

I'd leave Google play and play services alone, move apps that you have only downloaded

Use this
along with the fat32,ext4 partion with link2sd

Thanks, that looks like a pretty neat script. I'll let my son know about it if he's interested. His phone is working fine for him now as is. His interest in that 1gb app was very brief, it turns out he doesn't know exactly what it does but has something to do with a game he has on his PS4.

Mostly I wanted to say thanks for starting this thread and report another success with this rooting method.

Sorry, I just a novice myself that had the good fortune to have everything work. I'm not sure why there are no folders found in app-lib but I guess the problem that InsuFixer addresses is not what's causing your problems.

Link2SD has FAQs here. It gets a bit complicated depending on whether you have a Linux partition on your SD card or not. You would know if you went out of your way to create a Linux partition. If it's just a regular Windows fat32 partition on the SD card (this is what you have if you haven't tried to change it) they recommend not moving apps with widgets that you use to the SD card. Also, if you browse the SD card from your PC you will temporarily lose access to apps on the SD card while connected to the PC unless you're using a Linux partition.

Within the Link2SD app I use their filter to select only movable user installed apps. There are some methods and recommendations for moving/deleting some systems apps, but I don't have experience with those.

I'm not sure what issues you're experiencing and I haven't used the smanager script. If you've used that script it looks like your phone only sees one really big storage volume, I'm not sure how Link2SD will deal with that.

I won't be offended if anyone needs to correct what I'm saying, I only have the weakest grip on this stuff.

So here's the message I get when trying to move apps over using Apps2SD:

Apps2SD is not supported by your device. Because your external storage which is emulated from the internal storage. You can link the app in order to move its files to your SD card.

Naturally, I have no idea what that means.

You move them to the external SD card from with in the setup menu. under apps. click on the app and it will let you know if you can move it to the SD card. if it's grayed out you can't move it.

Thanks, David. I knew that and have done that. However, App2SD was recommended so I was giving that a shot.

Hello, people!

I'm a beginner of rooting, and I want to root my LG Optimus F6.

My questions:

Will rooting delete my warranty?

How can I unroot?

Can I OneClickRoot with TowelRoot?

I can give infos about my phone: 4.1.2 Android Softver version: D50510J-216-30
Kernel version is: 3.4.0 Host: T-mobile.

Thanks for the comments in the future :P
