Help App icons missing from 'apps' menu

I have a bunch of apps that are installed on my phone but they do not show up in the 'apps' section. I'm not talking about the home screen, I'm talking about the apps section accessed through 4x4 grid icon.

If I install a new app from the Playstore, the icon shows up fine. I thought of uninstalling the apps and then reinstalling to fix the problem but all the apps in question are built in (can't be uninstalled) eg Gmail, DropBox. Updating the apps doesn't help nor does clearing cach and data.

Currently the only way I can launch these apps is from the Playstore

Running 4.4.2 on Note 3 (N9005)

I moved this over to the Note 3 Forum. I think what you've got is a Samsung Touchwiz thing going on.

In Touchwiz you can create folders for icon groups. On my Note 10.1 all the Google apps were by default in a subfolder simply called "Google". There is a circle below the icon group image but it's not obvious at first that it actually is a folder.

If you can't find them there, go to menu>settings>general tab>application manager and slide the list to the left until you get to the "turned off" tab and see if the apps you want are there.

Sorry but none of that seems to be relevant. Also there are more than just Google apps missing.

Could you try installing a different launcher just to see if it's TouchWiz? I've got Apex installed but not my default launcher and i can switch back and forth no problems. That way if they show up in the app tray in Apex, then TouchWiz is definitely messing with you. You could clear the data and pretty much reset it, but you'll lose your home screen setup.

Thanks very much. That worked. As soon I cleared data/cache for Touchwiz, the missing icons appeared in 2 new folders, 'Google' and 'Galaxy Plus'.
