Help How do you use any sound as a ringtone?

I emailed my phone some ringtones and I saved them from the email, but when I try to set my ringtones from the Sounds menu, it only gives me the default ringtones.

Open the music app and find the file. Then press menu and there is an option to set as ringtone.

also if you make a folder on your sd card or int mem called 'ringtones' and place them in there it will show up as an option for ring tones, same goes with naming a folder 'notifications', this will let you add custom sounds as text notifications and such

how did you even save them? when I sent myself a ringtone i could only preview it, not save...

Log into gmail through the browser. The gmail app doesn't let you download certain attachment types.

I have a bunch of music files on the SD card.....the music app sees them, but ringdroid doesn't.

I have the same issue, so I'm going to try creating a "ringtones" folder like pirate suggested, and see if that fixes the issue. I'll update this post in a few minutes with my findings.

Edit: I created a ringtones folder, and RingDroid still can't find my files. However, now they show up as available ringtones in the contact list, which is awesome. I can deal with using the default ringtone trimmer to make the ringtone, then using Astro or something to move the files.

Assigning mp3 as a ringtone/alert
I connected the phone to my computer as a disk drive. Two volumes showed up; one for the phone internal memory and one for the SD card. On the internal memory drive is a folder called MP3. Under this folder I created a Ringtones folder and put my mp3 ringtones in there. Once I disconnected the phone from the computer, the ringtones were automatically listed in the ringtone list. Works great with not problems to far!

As far as assigning individual ringtones, each app typically has a setup to assign ringtones. For example, under the stock messages app, set to view all messages, tap menu and go to setup and you'll find setting for both incoming and outgoing sounds.

I can't seem to find them, even though when I go into People and set a ringtone, they show up with all of the standard system ones. Not sure why Ringdroid doesn't find them, but I see no reason to use that program over the built-in ringtone trimmer at this point.

I took the advice above and renamed my two "removable disks" Phone Mem and Phone SD.

Then I moved only one mp3 from the SD card to the phone memory into a folder called ringtones. Ringdroid was then able to see the file and I could edit it.

Just wondering.....did you name a folder ringtones on the Phones Memory......or the SD card.....or both?

creating a folder named Ringtones on the phone's memory worked for me.

Ringdroid found the mp3 file in there right away.
