Good evening ladies and gentlemen,
Really appreciate you being here and providing help, it seems bg4m3r is really lighting up the house in here ^_^
I am running into a spot of trouble trying to root my stepson's Boost Mobile LG Volt (ZV6 running 4.4.2). I've been through the root process with several different phones at this point so I am not a *total* n00b but I am a bit stumped here. Details are as follows.
BTW, I don't think this should be too relevant to the issue, but I am performing the root process through a Windows 7 virtual machine running on a Linux host -- I've done this with multiple roots in the past, I have proper USB-passthrough working and all drivers are appropriately installed.
I've tried both DP Tools and the LG One Click Root several times now, they both will run all the way through the whole installation and report a successful root at the end without throwing any errors. However, upon rebooting the phone, Root Checker reports the phone does not have root. The above scripts managed to install SuperSU, but it reports the su binary is missing. I've run through the whole process a few times now and as I said it is not throwing any errors so I am a bit stumped on what to try next. Googling around a bit seems to show that this method consistently works for people on ZV6 and before that people were successfully using towelroot on ZV3. Other than that, I did not see any reports of this method being unsuccessful.
I know my stepson briefly had kingroot installed on this phone a while back; could that somehow be creating an unexpected situation for these scripts? Seems unlikely to me, and I think he actually performed a factory reset after uninstalling it so it should definitely be a non-issue if that is the case.
If anybody has any ideas or suggestions, it would be much appreciated by us.
Many thanks,
Jun
