it is like each department at google is running loose.. and all think they have a better way to message!!!

I was on Voice.. and loved it.. then they started putting out new ways to message...
can someone.. give me a summery.. and which will be the defacto messaging/communication app??

All of that confusion and one still can't group chat with an iPhone.

It's out of control, all of it. I've been mostly using HO's since it integrates GV but even that's not been working right lately. I get a notification but the text sometimes winds up in 'archived', or not even, it's just gone. In fairness, that's usually short-code texts that are going to GV so yeah. But still and all.

Surely someone at Google can get ONE friggin' messaging thing working, can't have world domination the way things are now

But that's all on Apple. If Google developers were to reverse engineer iMessage's proprietary code and fold it into an Android app, Apple's legal department would be all over it within hours.

Got to admit. I did set up my SIM-less Droid X as a WiFi only home phone using this tutorial:

I'm hoping Allo turns out to be a great messaging app and it takes off. I'd love for Google to put some serious effort into integrating SMS into it if it does take off.

I probably shouldn't hold my breath though lol

Messaging/texting is one area where Google needs to commit some serious time to.
